Everyone forgets Bama was totally screwed also until Sabin fell into their lap. They watched Rich Rod, etc. It worked but but totally because of luck.

Butch Davis? How would fans respond to that hire?

So you're Joe Alleva. You're doing your damndest to outlive the shadow of your role in the Duke lacrosse fiasco. How likely is it that you're going to hire an ACC coach who presided over (not saying he cause it, but the buck stops there) the biggest NCAA violation scandal of the year? Never, ever, ever going to happen. And that's wholly apart from the fact that if you look at the list of the best and likeliest candidates, Davis is on page 2.

I'm on my phone so I can't post the contract but u can google it. And I don't need legal advise, it says if miles commits ncaa violations he can be fired with cause. Everybody acts like only a lawyer can read the contract. The investigation isn't over yet but should be by the end of the year. It will be used against him.

Who are those candidates. And be realistic. You are Alleva where you just fired a coach for winning 8-9 games in the SEC, three years after winning a BCS Nation Championship. Who are the REALISTIC candidates, and no Harbaugh isn't realistic.

Gray Patterson and temples coach are realistic and good choices. Also del Rio is realistic.

bring on the gruden pain train

Why would any LSU supporter want Gruden after his MNF comments regarding how he thought Bush should retain his Heisman trophy and had not done anything wrong in his eyes as he was the best college player that season. What a crock, Gruden does not need to be a college coach if he thinks NCAA rules don't apply to athletes.

any chance mike riley leaves oregon state? he has that 'nice guy' aura like miles but his teams are well coached and always come to play. nfl background. played at alabama in the sec. has been both an offensive AND defensive coordinator, coached quarterbacks too, he and chavis would work well together assuming the chief wants to stay on.

The realistic candidates, given the scenario you accurately portray (your predecessor got canned after having the highest winning percentage over a 6 year period of any coach in LSU history with that long a tenure, including a national championship 3 years before)are either young guns who see LSU as a very attractive stepping stone (e.g., Peterson at Boise State) or retreads (e.g., Spurrier). The best thing LSU has going for it in searching for its next Head Coach, whenever that may happen, is that he isn't going to be following St. Nick. Saban's replacement was always destined to be disliked by the fans. No doubt Les made it harder than it otherwise would have been when he won in 2007, but eventually his "not Sabanness" was destined to catch up with him. He should have seen that coming in. It won't be a problem the next guy will have.

Any coach worth a crap is going to know exactly why Miles got canned, and will have several million reasons to not have a problem with it.

I know me and some others have said it already, but it needs to be said again. Les Miles allowed dj mccarthy to commit NCAA violations on his watch. This allows LSU to fire him with cause and not have to pay the full buyout.
Let's fire him for incompetence, raise $2million from $20 donations from fans, put it together with TAF's $5 million, and pay him $7 million to get the frick out of town and never touch our football team again.

Then let's dare him to challenge it in court. No court in the world would overturn it.

I dunno which section. I read the contract 2 weeks ago because it was brought up by somebody else. It is in there though.

And prom I disagree, offer GP the same salary as miles and I think he takes it. But if not there are other coaches we can call on also.

Revenue alone is a meaningless number. Go find the "expenses" chart, net it against the "revenue" chart, and get back to us.
