Nope. But there are certain holes where you just can’t pencil an incumbent in, and one of those is at catcher.

It’s very clear where the talent lies on this team, and who is on notice.

You’re sitting here saying a guy that has proven he cannot hit any type of pitching, be it SEC or OOC, is automatically the day 1 starter. So follow your own standards bro.

Every time a new player is talked about, you come in with “well what has he proven yet” stuff. And I don’t know who you are but it’s clear you are connected somehow to the old regime, whether it be thru a player or a coach, and you are not loving this needed turnover.

And by the way, you can get ahead of it or not, that’s your choice. But it’s time to start to recalibrate expectations on transfers with the new transfer rule.

It’s not just going to be guys that are so unhappy with their old school that they are willing to sit out a year before playing.

Great players at smaller schools are going to flood in to play against the best. Guys are going to follow old coaches, like we are seeing. There isn’t a limit on this. It’s a legitimate free agency. It’s not just scraps that will be moving teams

I’m not connected to either the old regime or the new. I have met both but definitely don’t know them

Defense is the most important attribute for a catcher and Milazzo is phenomenal.
This I can agree with but he closed the season 1 for 28.

He can’t be that bad if your planning on outscoring teams

Do you also realize every time a kid signs they are looking for someone better the next day? It doesn’t always work though

Coaches talk as you say, it’s great. 3, 4, 5 years down the road will tell if it is or isn’t

Not the same, but sure. He has to get the job done.

I’m talking about Speaking publicly about players. Johnson seems like an honest guy but of course he isn’t going to speak negatively about players.

Why isn’t anyone mentioning Travinsky? I’m very out of touch with baseball but isn’t he better?

It’s pretty much impossible to not improve the bat of a guy that was 1 for his last 38 at bats

An improvement would be .200. That still sucks arse.

Jesus Christ can hit a curveball, but he can't make Milazzo hit more than 200

This is so bizarre to me. People are adamant a .148 hitter has a decisive and important starting role to this squad. Dude might have been the worst offensive starter we have ever had. Ever.

If there was ever a player people would say…yeah it’s not working out about…it should be Milazzo. Defensive replacement at best.

It's amazing what happens to a lineup's batting average when the opposing pitcher can't just throw garbage to 6 of 9 batters to get them to pop up, ground out, or strikeout because the pitcher knows that even if they walk the batter, the batter is still probably just going to end up stranded at second.

A rising tide lifts all boats.

Most kids that get recruited to lsu hit well in high school

Most won’t work out.

If LSU actually had a good catcher the last 2 years, you wouldn’t be attached at all.

This is reality. We were already trying to move Milazzo out, but Travinski got hurt. If Milazzo was a .225-.250 hitter with a little bit of pop, fine. He's a great defensive catcher and the pitching staff was comfortable with him. You just can't sit on Milazzo and hope he improves at the plate. Well played by Johnson.

Milazzo, Priester, and McManus have a fight on their hands.

So he was the backup at Samford. Now you got him starting in the SEC. yep. Ok

The simple fact that Milazzo is staying (so far), McManus is transferring in, and Priester committed is actually shocking. We need that, but only 1 guy can catch. You may have a DH spot open but that role is going to be competitive too. Priester could be serviceable in the OF. They all want to play right now. Johnson is a damn dog whisperer.
