I agree Jones needs to replace Landry until either proves otherwise.

I played high school football with his uncles Robbie and Ronnie and his dad was a frosh when I was a senior. His father's name was Mikie and he was an outstanding athlete-better than his two older brothers and they both played college football so thats saying something. I am not at all surprised that Mikie's son turned out to be such a great athlete nor am I surprised that he decided on LSU. I guess I am a littls surprised that he is not playing football.

It was sick last year at STM. What he could do sometimes amazed everyone.

It was only a matter of time before he blew up, the guy's overall athleticism is just sick. It is very unprecedented for such a great athlete to be playing baseball, instead of football or basketball at the college level. But that's Mikie, baseball has always been his greatest strength.

He's Lafayette's favorite son, and I, as well as alot of people here are wishing him all the best.

So, why isn't he playing for the Ragin Canadians?

Fair point. He has numerous family ties to LSU, plus a life time of wanting to come to LSU.

I don't read the ULL boards (probably worse than the rant and poli combined), so I don't know what the ULL faithful think about this.

Everyone respects Tony Robichaux and his ULL baseball program, but apparently no one here sees any value in knocking Mikie's choice. It is his choice, and he will be supported no matter what (perhaps with some exceptions perhaps from the ULL faithful). By and large, Acadiana folk want their own to go all the way, and LSU is much more likely your ticket to stardom. Everyone knows this.

The issue is the arrogance of LSU fans over all others. Alot of Lafayette area peeps have connections to LSU, and Mikie's presence and successes will hopefully break down barriers on both sides of the Acthaf Basin.

Signed,

Where did you find the article on his father's death. From what you posted, it sounds like a good read that can shed some more light on Mikie as a person (as opposed to an athlete). I'd love to read it.
