It looks bad when a American conference team that has way less money than LSU can manage to get a tiger to the game.

The tiger in the stadium is tradition and people aren't happy when tradition is broken.

We could get a better training staff that has values more in line with what we want, a better trailer and probably go about training the next tiger in a better manner.

I get why people are mad, it breaks a tradition and makes us look third rate when other schools can get their mascot into the cage. which is a cage much nicer than the one we have. I think that is inexcusable, it should be done in the offseason without much though to just get a better trailer.

Actually, there is a smell that Mike LOVES. Product you can buy at Walgreens.

The could get him in every single time with it.

how is it a stupid tradition?

Having a live tiger rolling around the stadium is badass especially compared to things like the ags dick sucking and rolling trees like auburn.

It is something unique. The fire works crap that they are trying to use as an excuse is lame. every fricking team runs out to fireworks. Only a few teams have tigers that go to games.

Traditions are part of college football, it is what separates it from pro sports.

18 is a bad tradition that needs to end, the 18 jersey makes players worse

Sadly, I have a feeling that the tradition dies this season.

99% of the facebook comments are women who support his "choice" to not go every week. Face it, we live in a feminine society and this is the new norm.

I think there may just be a fundamental misunderstanding among fans as to Mike's purpose. Frankly, I grew up thinking we had a Tiger for our mascot and that was that. He had two jobs: be there for us to watch at our pleasure and show up at football games 8 times a year. He was there to serve LSU. Over the last couple years I've come to realize that many fans see it the other way around. LSU is here to shelter and preserve a rare creature and to them that creature's needs come first. I just wish we could find a way to meet in the middle. Mike in Tiger Stadium on Saturday nights in the fall IS a tradition. But fans should be concerned about more than weather he makes it to the stadium. I just can't believe that there is no possible way to achieve both. Maybe we should have two Mikes? Hell Georgia has a kennel full of bull dogs. If the current Mike doesn't want to go to the game, cool. Let him entertain fans in his habitat and send the more out going Tiger in. A Mike and a Michelle, even? Maybe then we'd be preserving two great animals.

I wish I could take back the $20 I gave to build that nice habitat.

The previous tigers begged to get out if that last cage.

Good. I hope he never goes back. Let him out in his habitat on game days, fools!

Bottom line - - Meeting in the middle involves the LSU Vet School (since it takes care of Mike) and the demands of PETA. I'm sure the Vet School is very concerned about Mike's overall health and well being.

Mike CAN be trained to get in the trailer. He does it and goes out during baseball and softball season, even basketball games I've heard. He is very well trained in other behaviors. Maybe the upscale trailer is an idea that will work.

The Vet School is in "the rock and the hard place" because of PETA. If they make a big deal out of anything, it gets WAY overblown.

VET SCHOOL-----can you take a hard look at this situation and find some middle ground? I can see both sides, but not eveyone can.
