Peta said it was cruel. They even wrote a letter if I remember requesting LSU cancel or not replace Mike V. Here is what Peta failed to recognize or didn't care about. The average life of a Tiger in the wild is around 8 or so years. The average life of one of LSU's Tigers is 15 plus years. They get regular medical care by the vet school, a consistent healthy diet, they don't have to fight other animals for dinner and become injured and now have the best Tiger Habitat in the world that has ever been built for one Tiger. It was pointed out to me by the director of the sanctuary where Roscoe (Mike VI) came from
that Tigers are solitary animals. Tigers do not have the emotion of loneliness like a human can have. They actually are more stressed out when there is another Tiger around because they are constantly looking over their shoulder so to speak. These are direct answers to direct questions I asked the director in an email that he answered. My original question was with habitat so large, why not have two Tigers. Mike and a companion? That was his answer. He is also the one who told me the habitat at LSU is the most elaborate he had ever seen anywhere and the care that LSU provides Mike is also the best anywhere on the planet.

I'm going to try and make it to the LSU vs. UW game this year. Other than the tailgate and the game itself, can't wait to see Mike.
Some great pics in this thread, BTW.

He's kind of a pussy about getting in his trailer.
don't blame him one bit. most animals I see in trailers aren't going to have a nice day.
MikeVI rocks. the rest pale by comparison.....except for that kick arse buffalo at UC.
