likely scenario that he walks away for a lesser buyout
Why would he do that? Is the thinking that it would be a lump sum payout?

As of now, no assistants have been let go, but there is a meeting ongoing and from what I've gathered holed up in this room at the LSU football facility are Scott Woodward, Brian Kelly, Austin Thomas and Frank Wilson.

Okay now here’s why I’m honestly skeptical about this proposed scenario.

Why would Wilson and Kelly be there at the same time? The BIG issue is Kelly’s buyout and I could see him and Woodward hashing it out head to head all night.

But worry about the interim coach later. That’s small potatoes compared to the buyout. No need doing two things at once and I don’t think SW would do that.

And of course any agreement on a partial, maybe lump-sum buyout between Woodward and Kelly must be approved by the BOS.

If these people are all in a room together seems most likely Kelly would be retained and the rest of the offensive coaching staff won’t be. Unfortunate to say the least.

Doesn’t mean they are all in the same room. Just all in the building.

He gets paid 400K from the state. The rest is private money and would not go toward his retirement anyway.
