re: Mike Leach Book with story on Tiger Stadium (Posted on 8/27/11 at 9:33 p.m. to Oyster) Considering the way that game went, no doubt Leach had a blast during his trip.
I am sure the victory over ranked LSU was nice for Leach. However, this story was about the pre game experience. Many would have been horrified by the experience. Some how Leach seemed to understand the LSU experience and relished it!

OC @ KY - They were the #1 offense in the conference. With our stable of RBs to compliment his passing sceem, it would be some fun Sat. nights. 40+ per game! Sounds like fun.

Read the book - read the appendix docs & emails - ESPM is the culprit! Hope to see Leach back on the sidelines soon

The final score was 39-36.
They officialy put up 37 on offense that night... 2 points were on a botched XP attempt that got returned.
When you think of Tim Couch, plus all the QBs under his tutelage over in Lubbock, the guy is a miracle worker as an offensive coach.
Seems like a pretty cool guy too. If he put his defense in the hands of a good coordinator, he could be really successful at a major program.

Good read for any college football fan.

TT was a nobody in football before Leach. The guy is a genius and entertaining to boot. He is my favorite modern day coach.
Craig James is still counting his SMU hush money

Leach would give his right hook to coach at LSU.
I'd settle for just his signature if an offer were ever extended.

Leach was the OC at Kentucky under Hal Mumme. The year he beat us was 1998. Tim Couch lit up our D for over 300 yards, and they beat us 39-36. It was our third straight loss... dropped us to 3-3 and out of the top 25. Don't believe we cracked the top 25 again for the remainder of the DiNardo era.

Interesting SI roundtable discussion re college football TV:

8. Do you trust Craig James when it comes to reporting on the Big 12?
Mandel: I wouldn't trust Craig James to report on sixth-grade volleyball. It's been established, via documented emails, that he not only encouraged a sitting Big 12 football coach's dismissal but hired a PR firm to intentionally manipulate coverage. And yet he's still walking into Big 12 coaches' offices every week to break down tape. Now he's running partisan political advocacy ads, which you would think would be a no-no for a television analyst (I seem to recall Lou Holtz getting in trouble simply for endorsing a candidate). How he's still on television (and in prominent time slots at that) is one of the great mysteries of modern civilization.
