But he'd get more time, with limited NCAA practice time, at LSU?

Disagreed with his choice. I was wrong. He landed in a great place for him as well.

Mickey will not get a guaranteed contract. Martin will.

If you're going to call some a retard, try to avoid typos

I'm sorry your second shitty thread on Mickey didn't go as planned. You seem angry that he likely made the correct decision when most, including myself, thought he wouldn't go this high. He's positioned himself very nicely to make the team and further develop his game. No guarantee of improving his stock by staying while risking injury.

We should be able to see Mickey once and Martin twice in New Orleans next season. Maybe going to the weaker East will give Mickey more time to develop. The expectations don't seem to be very high for that conference and the urgency to win seems far less than the West.

If he had no interest in completing his education then it made sense. Personally I think he could have added some bulk and worked on his outside shot and perhaps worked his way into the top half of the first round. I cannot knock his decision though. It is just not what I would have done.

He couldn't hold up against mediocre opposition, so how will he hold up against pros. Mickey will be a hustle guy. Not tall enough or big enough to be a defensive stopper. At best he will be an okay help defender a few years down the road.

he's a poor man's tyrus thomas. for his sake, i hope his career pans out better than thomas'

Honestly, Jordan Mickey made the right decision. I think he will make the team. The Celtics have a bunch of project forwards but I don't think people give Mickey enough credit for his skill set.

He made 50% of his two point jump shots this past season. He will continue to improve that and should become a very good mid range shooter. He can use 100% of his time to develop himself rather than have to worry about school and other responsibilities of being a college athlete.

Defensively, his game should translate well to the NBA where it has become a guard driven game. He will have a ton of opportunities to rotate and block shots and his ability to hedge over a pick and roll as well as being able to stay on a PG on a switch will make him a very solid presence.

I don't think he's a starter right now, but the second 5 is very important in the NBA.

I'm happy for him.

You shouldn't be complaining about HIS decision because it affects the team YOU follow. He helped LSU for 2 years and will continue to helps LSU as youngsters see him in the NBA and want to be like him. This is LSU's first draft since 2000 having two players selected. That's impressive.

We are moving in the right direction and you should be appreciating what Mickey did rather than bash him for making a personal decision to help himself. We all go to college to improve our work situation, not to help the University.

Tyrus had a pretty long career and made a ton of money. Also won awards for his off the court work

Since most said he should stay because of $$, have that long of a career would be phenomenal

Tyrus made over $9 million this past season. He'd agree with you though:

quote:

The last two years I've just been miserable," Thomas told Yahoo Sports on Friday morning. "I hate when people say, 'You're getting paid, so it's cool.' No, it's not [expletive] cool. I'm [expletive] miserable sitting at home.

"I'm not broke. I'm not desperate for money. When playing basketball is what you love to do and you physically can't do it and you still have that urge to do it, it's tough."

You're right. Best to get into an NBA organization and get some decent coaching to he can improve his game and get that next contract.

Yep. He will go to summer camps and fight for a position on the Celtics and I think he will prove his worth there. In the Draft combine 5v5's he played great. I think his skillset works great in a more open style of basketball like the NBA plays.

I don't think it was wise at all. With his athleticism, if he gained a little weight,
got stronger and became a more consistent shooter he could have moved way up.
All of this is obtainable for him, his shooting form isn't bad, but he wore down badlly
in the latter part of the season and his outside and found shooting really suffered.
He would have had allot more chances to shoot next year. He will be a defensive
stopper in the pros and won't get much opportunity to work on his mid range game

while i agree with you, it was obvious he had some self confidence issues in his game, he would make a mistake or two and shut down for the whole game near the end of last season, best for him to go ahead and take the cash thats being offered and hope the pro coaches can work his mental kinks out

Good news. One thing is for sure, I will be watching a LOT more summer league on NBATV than I have previously.

Devin Booker age 18
Trey Lyles age 19
Karl Anthony-Towns age 19
Tyler Ulis age 19
Dakari Johnson age 19

Ben Simmons will be 19 by start of 2015 season
Antonio Blakeney will be 19 by start of 2015 season

Age has nothing to do with it...
