quote:We've known this about him since 2005. We've also all had a hunch that Les is a micro manager when it comes to calling offensive plays during the game, in an important match up. Those 2 issues have been brought up more than any other, since 2005. So why is it the year 2012, and we're still asking the questions about that? This is not me being anti Les, by the way. I'm not saying fire the guy, just trying to put things into perspective.
Les almost plays not to lose rather than attack

so twice so far when the shite has hit the fan, Miles and Stud reverted back to their 1/9 "gameplan" and coached scared. I'm sure that will work great against Alabama. As soon as Mett gets sacked or throws an INT, Miles will revert back to the 99% toss dive offense and we'll lose 24-0.

There were some in the game thread that were saying that.

Auburn's DE's had a lot to do with our sloppiness. They weren't the only factor, but those guys were beasts.
But we still won.
But we still won.

The team didn't execute. Stop crying about game plan. In fact we should have run more in the 4th and shortened the game. Chiz did that for us and made it easier.

Mettenberger is inexperienced but Stud's game plan ain't helping! quote: Initially, we were on the attack. Then we kept imploding, so we went conservative. It's what won us that game last night. Quit being stupid. This! Dropped passes, turnovers, and covered receivers kill a game plan. Our fan base is moronic
What's moronic is the realization that our offensive line is not as dominant as last year with the absence of Faulk. Yet we kept running into the teeth of 8-9 in the box.
After an entire offseason where our coaching staff literally dared people to do it, someone did it and we refused as a coaching staff to make them pay.
Nothing but unimaginative comeback routes and more boundary passes mixed in with two-four vertical shots and a slant here and there.
No crossing routes-shallow, intermediate, etc. No square ins. No TE seam routes. NO SCREENS.
No shading the C-Gap by the LT w/a TE after a painfully obvious issue w/pass pro. I mean he's a Tiger and a warrior, but if your Left Tackle can't even put Lemonier on the ground on a cut block then he needs help.
This staff didn't lift a finger to help him. No draws underneath the DE's streaking upfield. No screen game to punish the rush.
It was a vanilla gameplan that almost got their asses beat and ruined a season.
They need to stop fricking around.

I can't wait to troll my barber. He's so anti Les it's not even funny.

Josh D and to a lesser extent Alex Hurst helped with that. Its like when everyone thought Quincy Carter was a god because he carved up a hyped LSU Lou Tepper defense. I didn't even notice Lemoiner on the field last year in the LSU game because of Faulk.

Coaching Staff let them look like all-stars and didn't punish them by helping our OL out. Hurst and Josh D are struggling but we can do things schematically just as we did last year and punish the rush.
We didn't do it. That's a failure of scheme and that's coaching to not recognize and react to it.

true
another coaching scheme we should try is line Josh D up next to the water cooler while we're on offense.

Seemed fairly obvious that both of our tackles had a pretty bad night, both in pass & run blocking. Most of the time our runs got blown up in the backfield, it was from the outside. Some is due to Aub's DEs(they played inspired), some was due to our tackles, and some was due to a lack of separation by our WRs. Overall, Mett threw the ball pretty well but he can't hit them in the hands in stride AND catch the ball as well.
Once Mett started getting blown up, the play calling got conservative because he could not be protected. Why do you think we rolled the pocket late in the game, because Mett's feet are so nimble? It was to compensate for our tackles. Everything I saw tonight was easily correctable, with the possible exception of the tackles.
I admit, I am now a bit worried about the position. Stud will have to fix it immediately. But despite all of the poor offensive play, we still put up some numbers and walked out of the barn with a victory, which has not happened very often at all. People will bitch about winning ugly, but we did the same thing vs the cowbells last yr.
I still smoked a cigar afterwards.

I agree completely . Running on 3rd and 4 , and not trying to throw the intermediate routes ever . Its either under 10 yards or over 25yds . I literally sat here and called almost ever run . I think we will be ok but we have got to stop being so conservative . I mean look where it gets us now .

Ummm NO , the fact that auburns offense sucks is what won us the game . Simon was beat deep a couple of times that would have been Au TD's . I am glad we won but we will not beat the elite teams playing run/run/pass

WTF

A few of us have even saying this for a while and even before the season, but the rant believes otherwise. We need a real OC.

A win is a win and I'll take it anyway. That being said, our offense was so predictable last night. What gives? 3rd and 3, play action? Nope, run it up the gut for 1 yard and punt. Rinse. Repeat.
