What has he done exactly to make you think he's in the top 18?

He's got a lot of upside and talent

6'5 230 lb QB with arm strength that is a senior in the SEC with a year of starting experience

Mel Kiper is an arrogant big mouthed a-hole, but knows his football. He is basing that on LSU offensive passing suckage in the last few years.

Hopefully our new coach with a new system will finally unleash some sort of consistent passing attack. Right now still an unknown but I'm hopeful, think the kid has skills just needs a system.

I honestly think Mett is going to tear it up this year

This feels like deja vu I swear I heard this prior to last season

No way there is 17 better qbs better then him coming out next year.

You can't be serious last season ZM ranked 70th in qb rating but you just want 17 better qbs right?

I hope he does prove Mel kiper wrong but most of you still act as if he is the second coming of Joe Montana

essentially, Kiper is saying that Mett will not be drafted

Well, pack it up, Mett. No need for him to play now.

I am not saying Mett is a messiah, but come on, he is a Top 10 QB IMHO. Look at the deeper facts. LSU was PLAGUED with drops last year. Remove these and LSU beats Florida and Clemson (which we wouldn't have played anyway). The Alabama game was one of the best QB performances I have ever seen. Let's be honest, the O-Line and WRs should be better. This means a split second more time to throw and gives improved WRs longer to get open. Pocket presence was definitely a concern...it usually is for a first-year starting QB. To not predict there will be improvement is silly, considering every factor around him will be improved.

Mett could have a great year and easily break into the Top 10, he certainly has the tools.

However, at this point, there are easily 10 QB's on that list that are better NFL prospects than Mett.

why in the heck would he? He wasn't even in the top half of the SEC in QB's last year, a conference not known for QB's as a whole

Mettenberger needs to study the new playbook for next year as if his future career depends on it.

His first year getting meaningful PT in the league? Looks like he has a pretty decent upside.

Usually agreeing with Kiper isn't necessarily the right thing to do. He is the worst of the NFL draft prognosticators.

Mett is a guy who could be polished into a mainstay in the NFL and I think the Patriots would take him because he fits the Tom Brady type mold. They probably trade Mallet and draft him to take over after 3 years.

I needed a good laugh. Thanks.

He played as well, or better, than anyone else against their defense. I'd say almost 300 yds vs that defense could be called a torching.

He has some things to work on, but has a pretty decent upside. I'm fairly confident under Cameron he will show some improvement.
