Not sure how that post came through twice. Wasnt intentional...it's just a dumb joke from a couple years ago dont get all pissy. I generally defend play calling and hate when thays the first thing people attack when the offensive problems are much more complex. That said, any option play with mett is a fricking horrid play.

And I get the reason for running it to the short side but thanks for the lesson.

Back on topic... sigh

I like the idea of a faster paced offense. The whole LSU philosophy the last few years has been to wear the other team down. Kill them in the fourth quarter. Grind them into submission.

The faster pass will do that. Sure if our offense is sucking bad it wouldn't have any affect as intended. But keep in mind we will be the best team on the field in most games next year. The longer a game goes on (more plays run) the more likely the game will not end in an upset.

Also our defense has historically been pretty freaking stout. What is more scary than a fast paced team who has a defense that keeps putting opponent's defense right back on the field with an up tempo pace coming at them.

LSU has been sculpted to be fast. Why not the tempo as well?

And my biggest gripe was the red zone offense. Fix that and the points will come. Obviously. But the team was terrible inside the 20 last year.

Exactly. We got inside the 20 so many times only to come away with 3 points which is what ultimately fricked us in games. Not only was Mett not ready(can't believe this guy has had 7 different coordinators in a 7 year span), he didn't have the greatest of WRs getting open down there or catching consistently nor did they(Co-OCs) give him enough options.

But it seems like they are adressing that with two 6'2" guys(Dural is back), and hopefully Leslie who is 6'4" himself. They've went out and gotten a JUCO TE with good hands and picked up one of the best prep TEs in Smith(big targets and safety valves people). Finally they've went out and gotten an OC who loves using his TEs in the passing game as first options more than just safety options, and who also loves using RB screens and getting them matched up on LBs.

Give Mett tons of options and this will again keep the defense from keying on specific plays, specific players, and overused routes.

Just because its no huddle doesn't mean it's going to be an Oregon style offense... It just means that the coach can control the pace. He can take as long or as fast as he wants to call a play and when he signals in the formation he can wait and watch the defense line up before he signals in the accrual play. We ran this style at belle chasse high school when I played for them last year, the only time we went Oregon pace was when the coach signaled "NASCAR" usually meant the defense was in their heels so we were going to give them all they could handle. I think this gives a huge advantage to the O and I'm excited to see how it pans out,

Seems like if your offense doesn't make first downs, it really doesn't matter what tempo you are running... you are gonna be in trouble.
this.....our defense was on the field way too long last year....it wore them down and it showed late in the season....I think the offense will be much improved this year....can't wait for the spring game

If we don't huddle will we finally be able to get the plays off in time and without looking at the sideline 5 times in 40 seconds?
