I'm starting to think you're desperately anticipating needing an excuse for Burrow not meeting expectations this coming season.

"Joe would have completed more passes if only the coaches had made the receivers catch more balls from jugs machines during the summer and fall practice!!"

It still would fall on Burrow.

If you call yourself the leader of the team, these are the types of things you have to figure out. If you need those guys to succeed, drag them to the practice field kicking and screaming if you have to. That's what leaders do.

Michael Thomas was a 3-Star.

That doesn't mean anything. Many WRs were underrated in college and JUGS machines weren't what made them what they were. Internal motivation is what made them.

So by your logic, Meyer could take any 3 star WR and turn him into Michael Thomas?

Come on man. Thomas was severely underrated coming into college. That happens all the time. Thomas got good coaching, and probably worked his arse off. 3 star recievers don't turn into Michael Thomas just because of a jug machine.

...just because of a jug machine? No, not just because of a Jugs.

But without a Jugs machine? No way in hell a WR develops to Thomas's level without the hundreds of thousands of reps Thomas has gotten from the Jugs.

So a WR needs to have good coaching, great work ethic, incredible skills, and be willing to put in the time in order to maximize his talent.

This is ground breaking info.

You're leaving out the Jugs.

No way in hell a WR can get to NFL skill levels without support from his program. i.e. a Jugs area that is easily accessed without requiring "an appointment with plenty of lead time".

Get a permanent Jugs area set up, and let the WRs access it whenever they have a spot in their schedule.

You can buy a used jugs machine for $1000

If players felt endless uninterrupted hours on a jugs was the ticket to success. I'm certain 4 could get together $250 a piece to acquire one.

Would you let your 5-star WR son go to a program that is decades behind the curve for WR practice facilities? I sure as hell wouldn't.

And they don't need endless hours. They need about a half-hour per receiver if everything is set up.

But there are 30 receivers who are prime daily users, and about 30 more on the D who need some work.

Did you notice his "program" is TCU, NOT LSU??

Pay attention!

Yes, I noticed it.

That does not change the fact that LSU's WR practice facilities lag FAR behind playoff level schools (and lags behind many high school WR practice facilities)

Can you link where someone said that receivers couldn’t use the jug machines?

Exactly. There should be a jugs machine in every classroom. That way players can catch passes almost 24/7. You can listen to a lecture AND catch balls. We can put jugs machines in between all the buildings so interns can shoot footballs at players as they walk to classes. All bars need to be equipped with jugs machines so players can practice one handed catches while holding a drink.

Why are you so dead set against a practice technique that could be the difference in winning or losing a Natty?

Once again you're twisting things so that you don't have to answer the question or comment on the subject presented in the post. You posted something about 5000 yards, but have also said many times that QB stats don't matter and that the final ranking is what matters. Nowhere in this discussion has the jugs machine been the topic.

Yeah I’m sure Mississippi valley state had top notch facilities that made jerry rice a great wide receiver. Same with
marshall - randy moss
central Michigan - Antonio brown
Pitt - Larry fitzgerald
Chattanooga - Terrell Owens
Memphis - issac Bruce

Isn't this the sort of unfounded rumor that used to get folks shown the door?

What gives?

Is that how this works around here now? Claim whatever you want, assert you have a source, and then refuse to give it?

Yup...nothing could go wrong there...
