Mauck and Randall Cunningham did not become great passers until they got hurt.

They were running quarterbacks, the primary focus being on running. Cunningham never became a great passer until he blew out his knee. Then he had to truly learn the passing game and made MVP. Mauck was a much better passer in 03 than he was in 02 after he injured his Achilles tendon. Didn't run around as much.

Well this theory is not working well when he’s coming off a serious lisfranc foot injury last year

Neither qb could run like they used to, thus they were forced to develop as passers.

He has all of his running skills intact still.

Is your point that Leavitt will never be a good passer here at LsU?
