I think that if JJ legally changes his first name to Matt, he is a shoe-in to win a BCSNC.

No, the 2 Matts were not "great"...but they were very intelligent, patient, didn't key in on one receiver, didn't throw interceptions and didn't take ridiculous sacks...

Mauck threw 14 ints and had either 2 or 4 TD's to 11 turnovers against ranked teams in 2003.

Flynn is a backup QB in the NFL.....not to shabby!

JJ just can not make quick decisions....He is not a rookie QB anymore. He either has it or he does not.

Could possibly be coaching, as Jimbo Fischer seemed to do a great job with all the QB's he coached. If we do not get rid of Crowton, hopefully we hire a QB coach.

WTF
Do not make this stuff up, and do not put a QB down that took us to the promise land.

FAIL!

he made plenty of quick decision against alabama, ole miss (getting put on his back in under 2 seconds in the 4th), and even arkansas. It really doesn't matter if you think he is a rookie QB anymore, he's going to have more time to focus on his flaws during the offseason and improve his movement in the pocket. A good running game that sets up the playaction pass will do wonders for a QB like JJ. Flynn and Mauck had that advantage and i hope LSU can run the ball next year as well

Matt Flynn was a good game manager. He really did not do anything spectactor.

Spectator? You mean he never watched anything?

the fail is on you, go look it up. he was awful against ranked teams in 2003. He made some big plays, but played crap in almost every big game.

UGA--> 14/29 (48%). 180 yards (6.2avg). 1 TD, 1 INT, and 1 Fumble (huge fricking fumble)

UF-->19/33 (58%) for 231 yards (7.0 avg). 0 TD, 2 INT.

@Ole Miss--> 16/29 (55%) for 189 yards (6.5 avg). 2 TD, 3 INT.

UGA--> 14/22 (64%) for 151 yards (6.9 avg). 1 TD 1 INT.

OU--> 13/22 (59%) for 124 yards (5.6 avg). 0 TD, 2 INT, 1 Fumble

so he had 4 td's to 11 turnovers against ranked teams in 2003

according to Saban, Mauck really made a difference in getting the team out of bad plays at key moments. Also, the bubble screen that was so effective that year was a read play. Mauck wasn't a great QB, but sometimes you have to dig a little deeper than the stats to find how players make a difference. To this point JJ has been efficient by design, if he can fix a few issues, he'll be a real good one. (although some of this is predicated on an OC change, I don't think he'll flourish at all under Crowton)
