Their policy has clear penalties for tests 1-3 and none of which were adhered to if he failed 10 tests, UNLESS, 8 of them were after the end of the 2011 season. I'm not talking about violating NCAA rules...I am talking about LSU's own policy.

and NCAA rules say that teams have to enforce their policy

I was told recently that the exact number was 14 failed tests. Also, a "hidden" stipulation in Miles' new contract was that he HAD to hire a new OC.

The article and pundits like Dan Patrick make TM7 out to be a helpless little baby who was totally exploited by the big, bad LSU.

Last time I checked, being 18 and older made a person an adult in this country, and you will be tried by a jury as an adult.

College kids are not kids, they are ADULTS. College ADULTS must be held accountable as ADULTS.

But it's a typical response from media, "let's make somebody else responsible for my actions",

How do we know that they didn't stand up and try to help?

If he really said this then frick him. Miles has continued to show support for him and even let him attend Pro day at LSU. He's become nothing but a thorn in the side of our program and he's been gone for a year. I was pulling for him until this shite

I'm kind of with you in a sense PortCity. I wish he would just separate himself from LSU. Les put his own neck on the line for this kid a number of times and Tyrann didn't give a shite each and every time.

There is no indication from the author of the article that she ASKED anyone from LSU if they tried to help...
And it's possible both that LSU did try to get help to the player and that confidentiality, including HIPPA doesn't allow them to disclose what they did do.
The article strikes me as a hatchet job from a lazy journalist. If she is right, she doesn't give us the facts that support her conclusions.

I didn't read the article but did they even mention the part about Tyrann going to one of the best life rehab facilities in the country and still continuing to be a frick up?

I'm not going to wade through six pages, so sorry if Germans, but I just got to vent about this article.

How the hell does this guy know LSU didn't try to help? Anybody on here who has any inside knowledge of the situation knows LSU has an extensive substance abuse program (not sure if it was school-wide, athletic department or a combination of both) and Tyrann was in the program.

LSU has extensive resources to try to help a student in his situation and they utilized those resources as fully as they could. If the writer had reached out to LSU at all, he would have learned this. Instead, he shoots from the hip.

That article deserves a serving of to go with a high degree of and a healthy dash of

It sounds to me like a very tongue in cheek comment and LSU should respond quickly. I don't believe a word of this BS.

This must be some really gullible writer to actually believe this.....

And Mathieu owns Miles and LSU a clarification...ASAP....

Apparently LSU is issuing a statement later today.

For what? If Mathieu was asked how many drug test he failed, it's in his best interest to answer it truthfully.

It’s easy to see why Mathieu left LSU to get better.

newsflash, he got arrested for possession 2 months AFTER he was kicked off the team.

Yeah the real issue is the number of failed tests.

NCAA says you're supposed to kick em off after 4 failed tests. Then Tyrann goes in an NFL interview and said he fails at least 10.

Public perception is now that LSU covered up 6 failed tests & violated the NCAA's substance abuse policy.

LSU's caught between a rock and a hard place, the innuendo and half-truths being reported on one side and privacy laws in the other.

How about this scenario, which I can't "link" as fact but can tell with with confidence is closer to what happened happened: Mathieu failed drug tests and was put into the school's substance abuse program. Within the context of said program, he failed subsequent tests that were not NCAA administered. Through the protocol of the program, when Mathieu reached a certain point -- a returning Heisman finalist on a team with legitimate national championship aspirations -- he was dismissed from the team.

This wasn't a program that had LSU's on-field success in mind, otherwise, they would have allowed Mathieu to play in 2012. And if he had, and LSU was willing to sweep his drug use under the rug, he would have performed just fine and I bet LSU would have beaten Alabama and won the national championship.

Yup. Miles was just bragging on TM yesterday and said he would draft him in his interview with Herbie and that's how he repays him!

Nobody knows but him and the lsu staff so there was no need to tell the complete truth. He definitely didn't have to go full tard and say well I don't know I quit counting after about 10 of Em. Spin it however you want to but the way he went about it was totally disrespectful

TM7 had babysitters. He was out of control. LSU did all they could.
