Lafleur and Moreau were every bit as good maybe better.
Foster Moreau was not half the tight end Mason Taylor is. He was slower, a much worse route runner, and had no where near the hands and contested catch ability as Taylor. He was also smaller and slower than Taylor.

He was an above average blocking tight end and below average receiving tight end. He gets a lot of love on here because he was a Jesuit kid who wore #18.

He's probably the 4th or 5th best tight end in the last 5 years.

1. Gilbert - when playing, not even close
2. Taylor
3. Moss
4. Moreau
5. Green - will shoot up to No. 1 by the team he leaves the program.

He was great but it's debatable whether he was the best ever at LSU.

David Lafleur and Thaddeus Moss were great as well.

Moss had 2 TD catches in the NATL Champ game

He will have a great career. Our misuse of his talents were tragic.

Apparently turning some heads. Looks like a big riser in this upcoming draft.

As soon as people starting paying attention to his tape, he was destined to rise. He will be the best TE to come out of this draft.

What? Dude got a shite-ton of targets here. Enough that he holds the LSU career TE record for receptions and yards (I think) through just 3 seasons. And 2 of those we had Malik and BTJ for him to compete with. (And I’m pretty sure he was hobbled almost all of ‘23 too). Not sure how much more we could have used his talents.

But I agree with some other posters that he may not necessarily be the best TE in LSU history based simply on those numbers. Since ‘19,
we throw the ball around WAY more than we ever have before. I’m sure Mason is the LSU TE all-time leader in targets by a large margin. Not to diminish what he did here at all—he no doubt had the best career by a TE in LSU history. Not even close. I’m just saying it’s basically impossible to compare him to guys from previous eras.

And I have no idea what round he’s projected to go in, but combine his skill, size, speed (I think), route running, and willingness to block—with his pedigree—and I have zero doubt he’ll have a very long and productive NFL career. I know the practices are more important than the game, but I’d love to see him have a great game tomorrow and carry that over to the combine and Pro Day and get drafted by a team who thinks he can step in and be their #1 TE from Day 1.

Wait, what?
I know Johnson was a receiver dumbass. The point was Calvin Johnson was a legit 6’5” measured at the combine and 240. Green is listed at 6’7” (which ha is absolutely not) and 245.
Does Green look like Travis Kelce or Calvin Johnson? Does his frame look like Travis Kelce or Gronk or Calvin Johnson? Can he high point a ball like Johnson? Does he have the wing span of Johnson. With that hie isn’t as fast as Johnson.

Moss was slow and not a great route runner. Moreau is still in the league…

David LaFleur was better than all of them. Why do you think he was drafted in the first round? He was a fantastic tight end.

Upset with Mason for opting out of LSU bowl now playing in senior bowl. Lost lots of respect due to that decision!

Would love to see him with the Jags. I believe he would do great here.
