You do know that the sink of Curley was only 4 years right?

Thank you for putting my EXACT thoughts into a well written post!!! If and when things get put into motion it's going to get ugly real quick and people will beg for Miles back by the end of it as it starts to go really downhill. Alleva is an IDIOT. I hate it for LSU but it's what is going to happen.

Thanks to Miles, LSU Football has reached a level of mediocrity this season in SEC
play that has exceeded the previous 3 seasons. He is truly a good man who loves his players. However, not nearly enough to change his stubborn 1970's philosophy to modern era football. As a result, those young men, the school, and it's fans have suffered. A sad commentary, but unfortunately true. Clearly it is time to move in a new business direction.

This is exactly what happened when Saban left less the firing part. Who knew about les miles before he got to lsu? I watch a lot of college football and I didn't know who he was.

Its happening....
Espn just had a quote from the Times Picayune on their bottom line saying that officals met last week with Miles to discuss how they can part ways with Miles.

All of that crap is based on fear. Most of the players that sign with LSU do so because they want to play at LSU. It's not all about Les Miles. The program is bigger than Les Miles

I appreciate your opinion but.....you are OK with being mediocre

you fire Les Miles, and this program will sink into the abyss.
Then explain;
Saban at LSU
Urban at Florida
Freeze at Ole Miss
Saban at Bama
McElwain at Florida
Harbaugh at Michigan
Carroll at USC
Gary Barnett at Northwestern
Snyder at KSt
Stoops at Oklahoma
Gundy at Okie St
Miles at LSU
June Jones at Hawaii
Urban at Ohio St
Dabo at Clemson
Jimbo at Fla St
etc, etc, etc
With your logic, no coach would ever be replaced

God you're a pussy. LSU will be fine. Keep our big recruits and let the rest GTFO.
Again, gtfo pussy
Again, gtfo pussy

If Les is let go, this program will tank.
That definitely is one of the scenario's that could happen, no one can argue that. But that is not the only scenario.
quote:
Can people honestly not stop and actually process what is happening at Texas, or Southern Cal? These are historic programs that are steeped with prestige and loaded with resources (yes, more than LSU).
Absolutely correct those are storied programs that are in down times. Texas is down because they actually waited too long to let Mack Brown go the program was a disaster when Strong took over. I am not saying Strong is the right man for the job, I am saying he inherited a disaster. USC has just shot itself in the foot by continuing to hire the wrong guy! They hire the right guy and they will be back period end of story! That will be no different from LSU as we have to hire the right guy, if we don't than your scenario of LSU going into the tank will come true, if they hire the right guy then it is off to the races again!!!!
quote:
Oh, but LSU will lure in a top coach, right? Everyone wants to come here, right? the top DCs that were being thrown around this board this time last year. Because what DC wouldn't want to come to LSU, right?
I don't know if hiring the HC and DC are the same in this situation. Whether we all like it or not Miles had a reputation of the defense was always going to have to bail the offense out, that puts so much pressure on the DC he should probably get paid more than Miles. With the HC it is all who you hire to help you because everyone knows LSU is a plum job, powerhouse, great recruiting base and rabid fan base "which is good and bad sometimes."
quote:
he next day, LSU hired Keven Steele. The best it could do.
I don't know if that was the best we could do, I think that was the best Miles could do. Not one in the same!
quote:
So, don't fool yourselves into thinking that elite coaches will line up to come to LSU - they won't. And no, Jimbo isn't coming to LSU.
I agree with you no way in hell Jimbo comes to LSU unless something like what happened to Petrino happens to Fisher in the next 40days. Like you said he will use any interest we have in him to get a big fat raise you can bet his agent "Sexton" is just loving it!!!!
quote:
Miles will be ruthlessly let go
I hope that doesn't happen, should be a classy way to let this happen.
quote:
The fans will cheer,
Fans are idiots!
quote:
The LSU football program will enter the cold month of December with no coach, and a #1 ranked recruiting class that will slowly dissolve as players start committing elsewhere. The inept LSU Board and Alleva will take weeks to try and find someone after Jimbo decides to stay at Florida State.
That is a big fear to be honest, expecting Alleva to get this right scares the absolute shite out of me. And with some very good programs looking for coaches it creates a big, big issue. Wrong year to do this with all the other great programs looking for coaches also. The timing sucks in that regard.
quote:
Miles is a massive asset and a top coach, but unfortunately, most of you won't realize that until it's too late.
I agree but he has become his own worst enemy. He refuses to adapt and change and he surrounded himself with too many friends "Cam, BDP, Steele" that have helped to bring his demise.
This won't happen but I wish Miles would have to let go of those 3 "Cam, BDP, Steele" elevate Wilson and BeBe and tell Miles he has to stay out of their way and let's see what happens next year. Wilson is told he has to put a more progressive game plan in on offense and see what we can do.

I'm sick of Les and ready for him to go. But I agree with OP. Jimbo not coming. Not coming. Let that sink in. Just signed his contract earlier this year paying $5 million per with a $5 million buyout. Not coming, why would he? To play Bama every year and get shite if he loses to a team that hardly ever loses? Think of how rarely we get that "dream candidate" at LSU. We will settle for the next guy like we settled for Les, and keep our fingers crossed. Maybe he'll be the next Saban. More likely, the he'll be the next Zook or Kiffin or Dooley or Sarkisian or Charlie Strong or Willingham or Weiss or Rodriguez or Hoke or Chizik or Bill Callahan or Bo Pellini or... All failed at respected programs where long-term coaches had sustained success. Call me a coward, but it is fear based on facts. New coach is a roll of the dice, and odds are against us.
Posted on 11/22/15 at 11:25 pm to Soviet Bear
That sounds like a pretty grim scenario and may very well come to pass. It, of course, begs the question of Miles lackluster performance given the level of talent at LSU. His great W-L record is as much a reflection of LSUs non-conference schedule as Miles coaching talent. I just don't think you can excuse the humiliating beatdowns at the hands of SEC opponents because he manhandles Western Kentucky and the like
