LSU doesn't need a recycled same ole same ole coach like Gottfried or Stansbury....Alleva needs to get a young up and comer.

has a losing record in conference. He cant do better than programs like FSU and Miami. No one is expecting him to be a Duke or UNC or Cuse or Louiville.

FSU and Miami have very distinct recruiting advantages over NC St, not discounting the fact that they aren't in the same state as Duke and NC!

It's a shite job and a place where finishing 4th in that conference would be a decent job.

LSU will not get a big name coach. They simply won't come here. They need to find somebody under the radar at a smaller school. As crazy as this sounds, Roman Banks, HC at Southern would be my choice. Watching how hard his teams defend and seeing how successful he's been in that shite hole of a situation is extremely impressive.

Trust me: AVOID. He does slightly more than JJ with a LOT more talent.

NC State look like they are playing basketball though.

LSU is sleepwalking.

.

Do they? NC is a basketball rich state and NC State does have some tradition. Miami and FSU have none. NC State has been recruiting fine since Sendek was fired in the early 2000s...Besides Gottfried is a great recruiter. That's never been the issue. NC State has been loaded under Gottfried and has underachieved in all but maybe one season. His "best" State team (that made the elite eight) was as high as #5 in the pre-season polls but struggled through regular season and backed their way into the tourney as a #10 seed.

I think it's more interesting in that article that Archie Miller is likely candidate to replace MG at NCst

No surprise. Archie had a successful career playing for State and the fans loved him. I thought they were going to hire him 6 years ago when they hired Gott

He could be a good hire for LSU. His record shows that he can win at NC State while being third in line in Carolina behind UNC and Duke. And from the looks of the Bama years we would take 17-15 right now. CJJ has good numbers in the first 4 years but i dont consider SEC Basketball > ACC Basketball

CJJ first 4 years

12-13
Overall: 19-12 .613 W-L% (100th of 347)
Conference: 9-9, 8th in SEC
13-14
Overall: 20-14 .588 W-L% (123rd of 351)
Conference: 9-9, 6th in SEC
14-15
Overall: 22-11 .667 W-L% (64th of 351)
Conference: 11-7, 3rd in SEC
15-16
Overall: 19-14 .576 W-L% (130th of 351)
Conference: 11-7, 3rd in SEC

CMG first 4 at Bama and NC St.

Bama first 4 years
98-99
Overall: 17-15 .531 W-L% (140th of 310)
Conference: 6-10, 5th in SEC West
99-00
Overall: 13-16 .448 W-L% (196th of 318)
Conference: 6-10, 4th in SEC West
00-01
Overall: 25-11 .694 W-L% (47th of 318)
Conference: 8-8, 3rd in SEC West
01-02
Overall: 27-8 .771 W-L% (21st of 321)
Conference: 12-4, 1st in SEC West

NC State first 4 years
11-12
Overall: 24-13 .649 W-L% (77th of 344)
Conference: 9-7, 4th in ACC
12-13
Overall: 24-11 .686 W-L% (57th of 347)
Conference: 11-7, 4th in ACC
13-14
Overall: 22-14 .611 W-L% (103rd of 351)
Conference: 9-9, 7th in ACC
14-15
Overall: 22-14 .611 W-L% (104th of 351)
Conference: 10-8, 6th in ACC

I agree with your position to a point. I'm saying the top tier players go to Duke, NC, etc.

FSU and Miami are in Florida. I would say Florida has many times the pure talent than NC has....so they compete many times on pure athleticism.

My point is, bring a great recruiter like him to Louisiana where there is ZERO recruiting competition from other in state schools, and I think you have a winning formula. There are some great players from LA playing out of state.
And he does know Xs and Os at a high level.
