As we speak, Aranda is having Spear's comments transcribed so that he can install the recommendations in the Ole Miss game.

One thing I've been noticing every game this season is that our pass rush over pursues the qb, and are usually running past him. They're right there to make the sack. I saw a whole lot of that last night.

Aranda may not trust his secondary enough to blitz much. Greedy is unreal and can be trusted, but the other corners are getting beat pretty often. Fulton got burned several times Saturday night. Fulton's a great athlete and is somewhat in position with WRs, but he lacks the awareness and "ball hawking" ability that Greedy has.

LSU did enough to win but you'd be blind to not be concerned with tackling. Now, a wet field does make a difference because once those uniforms are wet, they become slippery. But man, lots of missed tackles last night. Also, when we did bring Phillips or White or Divinity, we had a hard time getting home. Plenty of teachable film.

I saw quite a bit of blitzing. They still weren’t getting to him. Either getting blocked or using poor fundamentals and missing the tackle.

That’s what happens when you put backups on the field in the 1st half

Correct! I was at the game, and when Rashard got hurt my friend crticised the coaches for still having him in the game. I tol d him then (it was still the first half) that putting in a bunch of backups sends the wrong message to the team.

I’m afraid that Orgeron allowed his team to lose focus. Hopefully he learned a lesson from that. He did a good job getting the emotion back early in the fourth quarter.

Didn't Orgeron say the team needs to develop a killer instinct when they smell blood in the water. Maybe it doesn't have it because of his coaching. He certainly didn't learn that from Jimmy Johnson or Pete Carroll.
That is a loss of focus. Playing the next play and not worrying about the score. It's about beating the man in front of you. It's the "process".
Of course some of it due to the attrition and injuries on the line but some of it is personnel, scheme and lacking an identity.
Cue CCR because there may be a "bad moon a-rising".

I only read first page and I saw "Spears is an idiot", "Secret playbook ra ra ra", "We didn't care"...

#1 problem with Aranda is his scheme is weird. I think it helps because it is so unique, but it also hinders us. We have 3 Defensive Tackles on the field 95% of plays. I see no reason why on 3rd and 8, Glen Logan, Fehoko, Lawrence should be in the game.

A) That's a great opportunity to give those guys a blow
B) They are guys to clog lanes not rush the passer. Many times Smith had the pocket somewhat collapse but we didn't have the speed on the DL to get to him. That's a major issue.
C) Lastly, when we blitzed last night we were highly successful. We had 1 sack and it was in the 4th quarter on the last drive...honestly, that's just simply bullshite and very frustrating.

Not much pressure being applied with LSU rushing 3 tackles and a linebacker, I was more disappointed in the defense than the offense. Offense had a patched up O-line. Defense had no excuses for lacking a pass rush.

If you think Tech was tough, Ole Miss passing offense will be a much bigger test for the secondary, how much will Aranda show next week and will it be enough?

Part of the problem last night is that Delpit has been one of our most effective blitzers, and he was out for a lot of the game.

. Sounds like you are disappointed. Giving up Three tds last when the game was still on the line was very disappointing to me anyway.

To this point in time, I’m a lot more concerned about our offenses ability to attack then I am about any concern with the defense.

I'm no expert, but I thought Tech had a decent passing game. At least as good as Miami.
