I think Meeks is very good but this year MVP goes to Marcus without him we are not 13-1.

giving it to a guy on a team that already has 10 losses and might not even make the tourney would cheapen it imho. It's not like he's averaging 30+ or something where you would HAVE to give it to him.

Not so fast. Thornton is playing on a conference champion team with an auto berth to the big dance.

LSU won the SEC outright, lost 1 time, has the other SEC POY canditate named Marcus Thornton, who played a huge part in beating Meeks and UK at Rupp Arena.

Meeks will win it? If he does that's bullshite.

In the SEC the auto bid does to the Tourny Champ. That said the Conference Champ is normally assured of a bid.

Meeks averages 34.6 minutes, 25.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 46.8% FG shooting, 43% on 3 pointers. He is ranked no. 5 nationally in scoring, no. 1 in the conference in scoring, no. 5 at his position. He is no. 1184 in rebounding nationally, no. 46 in the SEC, and no. 319 at his postion in rebounding. Meeks has a 89.6% free throw rate, and 2.8 turnovers per game.

Thorton averages 31.0 minutes per game, 20.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 48.9% FG shooting, 40.8% from 3 point range. He is 19th nationally in scoring, no. 2 in the conference, no. 15 in his position; in rebounding he ranks no. 452 in rebounding, no. 23 in conference, and no 52 in his position. Thorton makes 75.5% of his free throws and averages 1.4 turnovers per game.

Both are deserving. I am biased in favor of Thorton, of course, but I think if you look at the total package, scoring, rebounding, turnovers, etc., Thorton has a very solid case for POY.

Maybe not 30+, But 25.1 is pretty impressive.

Meeks would be my 4th choice.

1. Thornton
2. Calathes
3. Taz
4. Meeks

Thornton and Taz take votes away from each other, but they've been incredible all season long for the best team in the SEC. Nick Calathes does more for UF than any other player in the SEC for their team, but they've got a handful more losses than LSU. Meeks' team sucks, and he does nothing for UK other than score.

Slight edge to Thornton....but I dont think it was enough to overcome he medias Blow Job on Meeks. Thornton needed to seperate himself more IMO.

Taz is the heart and soul of this team...he does things that set him apart....no one really recognizes how great he is and vital to our success. Everyone wants to talk about thorton.

oh my bad, i knew i was forgeting something.

Meeks: 10-22; 9 points in first half and 15 in the second half

Thornton: 8-23; 4 points in first half and 19 in the second half; made the shots when it counted.

Also, I think LSU player of this game was Bo Spencer. He was hitting treys from Baton Rouge!
