A source close to the negotiations confirmed Monday night that Cincinnati defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman has agreed to a new two-year contract that will pay the 34-year-old assistant $600,000 in the first year. The new deal is a $75,000 privately-funded raise for Freeman, who also coaches the linebackers for UC.

Okay I’m not one who wears purple and gold tinted shades and thinks every coach in the country is going to drop everything and come running to LSU.

But this money is a mere pittance to what LSU can offer. Double or triple his present salary would make the guy sit up and take notice.

You have a guy you want who is obviously at the top of your list? You sell him on your program. I thought that ability is what Scott Woodward was bringing us.

How does anyone know how good he will be? Cincy doesn’t exactly play against great competition.

Maybe he’ll be great but it seems a little with his lack of P5 experience.

He’s not coming. He’s getting coach in waiting money.

I don’t think O really wants to hire someone who is looked at as being a high potential, near future HC. He always felt threatened with Aranda on staff. That if things had gotten really bad O would’ve been pushed out the door and Dave elevated to HC.

Firstly, he’s my first choice. But I personally don’t see it cuz O wants a 4-2-5 1 gap defense. Freeman runs a 3-3-5, which means it’ll usually be a 2 gap defense. Now if freeman adjusts to O, cuz every single DC knows how to run both defenses, then yeah I can see it. Hope I’m wrong tho
