He clearly didn’t click with the coaches at all here. I hear many times he was the most athletic guy we signed out of that class

The staff thought he should be an edge pass rusher and he thought he was a safety.

Brings up the thought about being careful imagining a situation somewhere else could/would be better. I am 100% for Marcel and think he had some family issues to consider with his transfer. But, more generally, I think its risky not to accept the feedback that well meaning coaches are giving. So, for example, if they say you need to work on pass coverage to play safety, then go out and try and cover Thad Moss, then Jamar and Justin. Obviously, I'm making some of this up but it just reminds me as a person its better to accept my limitations and to work on them as a way to get to where I want to be.

Best of luck to Marcel...I'll look forward to seeing him develop in his new role !

To kids out there, play whatever position gets you on the field or whatever you’re more above average at.

Wish him the best. You could tell he was going to be a great player at whatever position he landed at. I think he's one of the biggest losses for LSU because he had elite talent and could have really contributed next season.

This time last year as spring football started, he didn’t like that he was playing LB and was tweeting about it being the wrong position for him. So he transfers and now one year later he thinks he really should be a WR?

Guy had a ton of talent but damn how do you not stick to something and try to develop?

Silvermoon, I was wondering the same thing.

I thought Brooks had the best chance at either linebacker or safety.

He reminds me of a Little League youngster who insists on pitching, even though he just doesn't have a good enough arm and should be playing almost anywhere else.

Aranda put him near the LoS and just rushed him on 3rd downs. It’s clear he’s athletic but that’s about all he’s got going for him two years into college. Dude couldn’t get a starting spot at TCU last season and now is giving up on defense entirely. Maybe he just doesn’t want to put the work in that it takes to develop or maybe he’s too soft to be a LB. Jacoby Stevens moved around because of his athleticism but he clearly wasn’t soft. And he’ll make a NFL payday because he stuck to it and put the work in.
