But at least Faulk already had his degree, when he turned pro.

Year on practice squad: $500k;
Senior year as a Tiger: Priceless?

Actually, I cannot imagine playing one more minute for free than you have to. If the NFL is going to be your career, get after it as soon as possible. Risking injury and marking time in hopes that you'll move up in the draft simply makes no sense to me. If you can go now, go now. Wishing/ hoping that you'll magically move up your senior year? Naw, take the money and build from there.

I don't think the pay is quite that much. I found this piece regarding their pay..

"If a player remains on the practice squad for an entire regular season (at a minimum salary of $6,900 per week), he would earn a minimum of $117,300 over the full regular season if he keeps his spot on the practice squad. If a team makes the playoffs, these payments continue for as long as the team is in the playoffs.

To protect their players from other teams, or because they really like the potential of a given player, some teams pay their roster squad players significantly more. There is no limit to how much a team can pay a player on the practice squad, although the practice squad contracts do count against the salary cap"

So probably closer to 150-200K..

Depends on negotiations.....one guy was eith the Giants for 2 years practice squad. 230k his 1st year and 350k his 2nd. He was elgible for roster bonuses snd other incentives that were negotiated.

Still take your number roughly 120k in the nfl (+/per diems) or free at college?
