Hey man, I don't care if anyone smokes weed. But if it's a rule, or in this case also a law, you have to follow it or face the consequences.
I think lots of laws and rules are stupid, but you still don't break them bc you know it can frick with your life\job\relationships\etc..
I'm sure you have a few laws or rules you think are stupid as shite and pointless but you still follow them because you realize the consequences are if you break them.. Amirite?
Or maybe you are just a bad arse and do as you please?

I know right? It's almost as if football players are in college for something other than stellar decision making abilities.

So what's the damn deal with Porter not being available? Surely this has nothing to do with being beat out as a starter.

you dont have to test players for it, why the frick do we, I could honestly give a shite if a player smokes weed. hell, I actually prefer it; at least then theyll just sit home at night and watch adventure time instead of going out and getting in a fight.
Players are on contract (scholarship) and they have expectations that they must meet in order to keep the contract or membership on the team. If, in deed, Robinson is suspended because of weed, then he is merely being penalized for not keeping his end of the bargain.

He probably smoked weed, kicked several puppies, and then punched a small child.

It doesn't really matter. If your employer says its against their policy, you don't get to do it without consequence if caught.

He was talking about the other guy's opinion that smoking weed is immoral because it's against some arbitrary rule. Which is silly.
History is littered with dumbass rules/laws that had nothing to do with morality.

what about the thousands of non-athletes who are on scholarship? why don't we test them for adderall and weed?
for some reason its only the football team. the ncaa only tests for marijuana at bowl games; we're killing ourselves with this shite. i promise you that saban and sumlin dont do this.

I'm feeling just peachy now cuz this thread is just chock full of verifiable/empirical facts without a hint of wild speculation or anything.

Ok Robinson isn't playing but I haven't seen anything of substance on why Malachi isn't making the trip.
Malachi has a hammy injury. RR suspension will be one game
Posted on 8/29/14 at 2:09 pm to RedTigerRulz
The home page is now saying he's suspended so it's most likely true.

Yeah, and maybe we are helping these kids long term.
This notion that weed isn't a big deal has been destructive for too many young people. It's hard to find an article about any drug abuser that didn't start out smoking dope. It is addictive and, regardless of what research says, it certainly seems to be a gateway drug as well.
Also, not following these rules when they are clearly in place is selfish.
