You can bet that someone will be doing a cochon de lait (pig roast) at their tailgat for this game - go introduce yourself & enjoy.

Tonys on Plank road might be open. It has the best seafood for tailgating,

Most of the restaurants mentioned are great, but pricey if you're in a daze. Y'all might prefer a cool local place with a good vibe the night before the game. The Chimes (LINK /) would fit that bill.

I agree that the suggestions are good but pricey and fine dining may not be in your plans. I'll post again later - my daughter works at The Chimes and I'll find out if it's open Thursday. That and The Pastime are part of THE LSU experience. Hope you have a great time.

I really don't want to take a swing a this one. I tried to resist the OT tendencies, but, alas: Pics or GTFO.

Sorry about that. My inner OTer forced me to type that.

Anyway, enjoy the bedlam and wonderful world of tailgating at LSU. Cheer the Tigers to victory! I agree about seeing Mike on Thursday. Stop at the Chimes after and partake in the multitude of beer choices and have a wonderful lunch!

Ruffinos looks like a really good place and so does Copelands. Thanks for the suggestions!

Copelands on essen lane next to OLOL hospital is really good, not that cheesecake thing on Bluebonnet. Copelands on essen was opened by the same family that started the Popeye's chicken franchise. The food there is REALLY good. Personally, I always get the Pasta Alfradeaux with crab cakes. And average entree is about $14 with salad include. My wife can I can normally eat there for $35.

Another good local place you would not see is Heads and Tails. Two can eat there for $20 bucks and get really authentic Cajun cuisine. I would call to make sure they are open on Thanksgiving, but they usually are because they are frying turkeys.

Don't forget to stop at any grocery store to buy beer and throwaway ice chest bag. You can walk around with it. Also bloody Mary makings and get a flask and liquor of choice for the game. You'll be game ready by one. Ride the bus back to the Belle. Locate your car on Friday.

I stayed at the Belle for the Florida game. Take a cab to chimes restaurant and then walk towards stadium from there. You will get the parade grounds as well as Indian mounds and there will be people everywhere! Most important... When u get into the stadium scream like hell!

If you are staying downtown Ruffinos might be a bit of a drive as it is on the other side of town. As others have said it is a bit pricey.

Chimes is a great option! You should also plan on picking up a daquiri at some point. You GF will probably like that, Daquiri Cafe on Sherwood order the Attitude Adjustment.

Chimes is a GREAT suggestion for Thursday night.

Downtown more than likely will be dead Thanksgiving night so plan on doing something closer to campus. Its not far, have a good time but pace yourself - we cajuns can drink.

Welcome to the LSU family, hope you have a great time!!

Here are some additional spots around LSU you might want to consider:

The Bulldog (bar with tons of draft beer)

As mentioned before, the Chimes (good food and beer, local hangout)

Serranos (next door to Chimes, Mexican food)

Walk Ons (good food, good drinks, local hangout)plan on walk ons after the game on Friday, the CheeWeez are playing (great local cover band) big party after game especially after a win

If you get chance, checkout some of the RV tailgate lots...you won't have to spend any money on food & drink. When you get home, how about posting us about your experience!

Serranos is gross, don't go there. Who the frick eats mexican food on thanksgiving. I put up pricey places, I figured it was Thanksgiving you wouldnt want to eat crap. If you are on a budget, then everyone else is right, go to Chimes, solid food, they fry seafood well, great beers, great atmosphere practically on campus.
