pregame speeches are overrated. the emotion was there all night, it all depends on how the game unfolds.

Mainieri is kind of cheesy, but there isn't anything wrong with it. Considering how nice of a guy he comes off to be on the camera, which I am sure he is, it is funny to see him get pissed off during the game. That is the Mainieri I like to watch.

The speech was staged. LSU players watched a motivational video when they arrived on the busses, then when ESPN cameras showed up they got on the bus and PM had to give a speech for the cameras.

PM is paid to coach not give speeches (well maybe to TAF). I thinks he's doing an outstanding job. Auggie Doritoes gave a lame speech too (remember in 9th inning when he said if they picture themselves winnng then they will)and doesn't sign autographs for 12 year old texas fans.
The difference between the coaches is that ESPN blows up auggies speeches into some great prophesy of destiny and don't give PM the same love. Oh well, after PM gets the NC they'll have too.

Yeah, that poster has some serious problems with comprehension.

The speech put any weight that wasn't already on Coleman's shoulders squarely on them.

For the world to hear. Not that Mainieri doesn't know what he's doing, but it wouldn't have been my choice at that moment in time.
