Wait...

So, coaching a player and being happy that the player is learning is now considered desperation?

We’ve seen LSU coaches hug players after a win, but after batting practice?

Why not?

Maybe it was something they had been working on pretty hard and Milazzo finally got it, so they hugged real quick...this isn't ground breaking shite for a player/coach relationship.

I mean, if you had said they hugged, shared some tears, then dropped to a knee and said a quick prayer...sure, that would be strange.

But a quick hug to recognize an accomplishment...not news worthy.

Mainieri blames the lack of player talent, I fault the lack of coaching talent. Who’s right?

Well the coach has more wins than damn near everybody ever in his sport.
The players on the other hand have proven they lack the talent (currently) to hit or even identify a breaking pitch.
So you tell me.

Now if NEXT year (let's say even by May) these current frosh can't hit a curve, then coaching comes into question.

Why does it bother you so much that he was doing his job & congratulating a player on a job well done?

Do you get how petty that makes you sound?

You are grasping at reasons to shite on CPM

When you’re around your players everyday they become like family and you’re happy to see improvement. It’s rewarding. You celebrate the little victories along the way ...

But keep stretching, plumber.

A freshman? Do you really think it hasn't happened before? A coach seein a frosh grasping more advanced concepts?

This s belongs in the overanalyzing hall of shame.

Can’t recall any LSU baseball coach in the past hugging a player after his batting practice ended, I’m not grasping but Mainieri appears to be the one grasping or grabbing, whatever is the appropriate term.

And you've attended almost all of LSU's batting practices so you would know, right?

You're a terrible poster.

That’s great. Now if someone will teach him to stop stepping in the bucket he might be able to hit. Notice he starts with his left foot open then steps to the left when the pitch is delivered. This is called stepping in the bucket. His hips are opening up and his left shoulder is flying open. There is no way he can handle a pitch from the outer third and beyond. It’s hard to get anything other than a pop up or ground ball to the right side. Any coach above coaches pitch level will attack him away, away, away. I don’t see how all his coaches from little league, high school and now LSU can’t recognize this. Where is the hitting coach. SITB can be cured, it’s not a secret. Drills to close the front shoulder, square the front foot and put a bat or something on the ground so he can’t step out. You have to work on this to develope comfort and muscle memory but it has been done since baseball originated. If he gets a pitch down the middle or inside it is a mistake, just saying.

Your info is greatly appreciated, illustrates there’s a lot of teaching that goes into hitting balls in various spots at the plate. It’s this sort of teaching that LSU hitters have been lacking over the last two or three years.

Of all the dumb crap that Mainieri said today, this is what you pick? You had about 4-5 solid options, to not make yourself look like a complete idiot. Even with the odds stacked in your favor, you couldn't pull it off.
