Maybe you can't do that with every team but some teams need it. You can't sit back and be a "nice guy" all of the time. This team had no leadership except for Mikie and surely didn't get any from the coaching staff. I'm a Mainieri guy and believe in him but sometimes an Augie rant isn't bad and this team probably could have used it every now and then.

While this is disturbing as frick, it now explains a bunch. Also like that he realizes it and is changing things.

Let me guess you want Miles fired too?

i am just jumping into this thread and have not read read the entire thing.
P.M. might be true to his word about getting out more. wife just called me and told me he is in zachary right now at a wooden bat high school tourny. said he is there with a note book out taking notes. i am sure he would rather be other places than the walker vs. catholic game in this heat.

I dont give a rats arse if he sits in the dugout at practice picking dingleberries... He is the head coach.. He sets the example. He makes a shite load of money.. SHOW UP TO YOUR JOB ON TIME

I lost a lot of respect for PM this season and I gained more of it back after reading that. Not many coaches admit mistakes.

Mainieri has a son that plays for Catholic. Maybe he's keeping up with his son's batting average.

Yes. At least he didn't act like nothing is wrong.

I haven't read the whole thread but this sort of stuff is unacceptable from the HC of our baseball program. Takes a man to admit what he did but that doesn't mean he won't lose some of my support.

If he had, he would have lost me...and I think a lot of other financial supporters.

I agree. He is acting like the heat is on and rightfully so.

The way I read into all of this is exactly what I figured happened. After 2009, Paul Mainieri got complacent and put his job on cruise control. Not that I'm taking up for that, but it's a common mistake that many a man would make. It's like he was taking a breather after a long coaching career in which he just reached his overall career goal as a head coach - to win the title.
Mainieri better hope and pray that the hole he dug is not too deep to get out of.
I'm typing this as I just got done watching highlights of today's regionals - jealous and bitter as hell because I'm not used to not seeing LSU right in the middle of all that.

i love how they have so many experts on here, where were you experts during the season, i know streaming or watching on tv,not sitting in the heat spending money on concessions and buying lsu products.

Yea, I've said similar things on here.

Damn I miss it. What a shame we are not even playing, much less hosting. How far we have fallen.
