Actually, Landry started sucking when Jones left for Football, which gave Mahtook a chance to play with Landry for a while. As Landry continued to struggle, thre Mmove with Nola was made.

leon landry has not been the same since he got hit in the head with the ball in CF in last year's super regional ... remember the football helmet he wore to the plate in the CWS ? and he just quit playing CF with the same reckless abandon that he had before ... he also got a taste of the HR in his mouth early in the season and turned into willie mays hayes at the plate ..

Not true..

Hanover replaced Helenihi early in the year prior to playing Illinois. Helenihi became our RF when Jones left for spring ball. He struggled and Mahtook got a shot midweek and started killing the ball at bat and took over Helenihi's spot. Landry started to stink at the plate and after the Tennesee game PM moved Ryan to RF and Nola to SS and DJ to 2B. Then Landry struggled again then he moved Ryan to LF and Mahtook to C and Jared to RF.

BTW Mahtook is actually much faster than Landry. He is closer to Jared in speed than he is to Landry. He could have played college football at CB for many schools but wanted to play baseball at LSU.

I don't know if that's true, Leon had an outstanding summer in an elite league following the SR incident.

Now, you may be on to something.

I just see a player that has lost a lot of confidence. He gets caught stealing because he is scared to risk a big lead at first. When he would steal he had no jump and was only 2 feet off the bag. Then at the plate he was put in a few situations with the game on the line and would get the K. Seems to be all mental with Leon.

I think that's a fairly accurate assessment. If I'm not mistaken Leon is on something of a mini tear at present with five consecutive hits. Batting average on the rise and he may yet play a prominent role down the stretch. The main problem is when facing a southpaw it's not advantageous to have both Leon and Mitchell in the lineup together.
