Can't speak for all fans but overall I would say Tiger fans like, respect anf generally pull for Nebraska. We have played you guys a few times but not lately but any fan base that actually cheers the effort of an opponent Like you guys did years ago when you played USM in Lincoln will always make me pull for you guys. We could never have s show of goods sportsmanship like that. Plus, we think the OU fans are obnoxious whinners, and we all like your head coach.

I have a lot of respect for the "huskers and their fans.
Nebraska reminds me a little of Alabama, in a way, however.
Some of their most loyal fans do not understand how lucky they have been. They expect huge success every year and do not understand that hey are rebuilding a program. I see real improvement this year. One fan told me they better see a championship next year. With that attitude, they'll run thru coaches like crazy and never get there. Like Bama did til this year. Takes time.

I suppose it probably helps that almost all Tiger baseball fans have great affection for the people of Omaha.

It's going to be interesting how we use Burkhead.

But, if he's drawing comparisons to Hester, I'm looking foward to it.

Hester

Now the best blocking back in the NFL, and never fumbles when he carries the ball.

I always pull for Nebraska. The fans in Omaha have been great to Tiger fans since day one. How can you not pull for a team who's fans are so nice?

Couldn't agree more. While it would be nice to be right back in the National Title hunt, it's not going to happen for a couple years at least.

It's wierd ... I'm like others in this thread that have kind of gotten a little laugh the last decade as Nebraska has struggled, but with Pelini there now I actually kinda pull for Nebraska and hope you guys can eventually pull some of the conference "weight" from Oklahoma and Texas.

Certainly a good first season for Pelini. Honestly, I wasn't sure if he was going to have the success at Nebraska that the fans there will want, but he exceeded my expectations this year and seems to have the program headed in the right direction. We certainly missed Pelini on the defensive side of the ball this year.

It is kind of ironic that Nebraska fans in general pull for LSU because of the CWS and trips over the years, and now LSU fans are pulling for Nebraska because of Pelini.

Always been a great program (except for the last 8 years or so until Bo got back there). Lots of respect for Tom Osbourne - much more respect for Nebraska than Oklahoma. Great fans from everything I've ever seen and read. Hasn't been the same since Osbourne left but maybe Bo can bring back some of that magic. I think he started pretty well! Congrats on a good season!

I haven't read the whole thread so this was probably mentioned but I started pulling for Nebraska after the first time I saw the "Huskers for Tigers" signs in Omaha.

My whole family lives or was born/raised in Nebraska.

Except for my sister and I of course.

I was actually hoping we would play them in a bowl game this year.

They are my second favorite team.

Honestly, though, my father took the most fun road trip of his life to the LSU vs. Nebraska game in 1975 I think, and I heard stories about how the LSU groundscrew soaked the field prior to the 1976 opener in Baton Rouge to help the Tigers to a 6-6 tie against the heavily favored Huskers.

I was at the 1976 game as a student at LSU. Nebraska came into the game ranked #1 to start the season, and we gave them all they could handle. Funny, but when I tell stories about the game, I remember it as a 10-10 tie - guess my memory isn't that good!

My future (and current) wife was shocked that I taunted the Nebraska fans sitting in their greyhound bus after the game. She always says that should have been a sign that I might be a little too intense about Tiger football. Man, that sure was fun though.

I always like Nebraska. We played them back in the mid 70s when they were powerhouse. Lost 10-7 in Lincoln. LSU fumbled on the Neb. 28 with 2 minutes to go. Next year it was 6-6. Great game that ended tragically for a promising LSU LB. Kid named Domengue stabbed some ahole near Tigerland bars. My son witnessed it. The kid was out of his mind on speed. Had taken a half a bottle for the game. Played like a wildman. They practically needed a dart gun to stop him during the brawl. Never played again but he did become a minister. I never heard what happened to him after he took the cloth when he got clear of the incident.

I think that Pelini will bring back one of college football's great traditions...the great Nebraska Blackshirts defense. I feel that Nebraska has gone through a bad decade like LSU did in the nineties. Now, with the right coach, another sleeping giant of a program is awake. I hope you guys start destroying OU and UT. Good luck.

Count me as a cornhusker fan as well. The only time I would go against them is if they were playing LSU.

I agree with all.

I rooted for the Huskers this year and I'll be keeping an eye on them in the future with Pelini at the helm.

Hope ya'll do great things in the Big 12.
