I remember Coach Sanders putting up an article about Tommy his freshman year. I believe he set the freshman bench record at the time with 24 reps of 225 or something like that. He also did the most reps on squats as well. He was definitely a monster.

I agree with this except that I think the power clean is the best indicator of FB power.

When I powerlifted in HS(80's) a guy from the 165 lb class ALWAYS had the highest totals. 4 straight years at the State meet anyway. Those guys lifted a good bit more than the heavy weights and especially the super heavy weights who tended to be very fat.

For football, power clean and squat are the 2 most important. BUT, bench isn't "easy" otherwise they'd all be lighting up thew combine.
