but i will say the AD at valpo isnt going to have as educated an opinion as the AD at texas a&m, the AD at florida, the AD at cal state fullerton, etc.

i think that is a little short-sighted statement .. who's to say the AD at Valpo is not a more astute baseball person than say a jeremy foley at florida ? who's to say foley didn't really pay a whole lot of attention to college baseball this season with the hoops team and replacing CUM in football going on .. just an example ..

Got it. So fans are pissed that a team that finished second in it's conference got a bit, and LSU who didn't even make the conference tournament didn't get in?

Big East was the 13th best conference

SEC was the best conference

Is the Big East equivalent to the SEC?

The comparison should be made team vs. team.

Then, we should have just played those shitty teams on the road!!

Hell yes! 3 game series at Dallas Baptist to start off the 2012 season, followed by a trip up to Southwest Oklahoma State!

Its pretty clear STJ was the last 3 seed in and LSU is the 65th team.

so had georgia lost the first game saturday to florida and finished .500 overall, LSU's in .. it just wasn't meant to be this year ..

yes

since when is conference record the end all, be all? the committee, with its current chairman, has already said making the conference tourney is no kind of pre-req

and if we were talking about a big 12 team, or an acc team, LSU would have much less beef. but st. johns kicking big east arse? no, im not impressed

Oh, I agree.

I just don't see STJ making it without their AD on the committee.

Take out the school names and the NCAA's idiotic attempt to make the sport "bigger" in the Northeast and LSU gets in over STJ.

If LSU finished second in the SEC in basketball, and St. Johns finished 9th or 10th in the B.E. and was picked over LSU to get in the NCAA basketball tourney, Our fans would be throwing a f'king fit.

LSU baseball fans feel entitled. The baseball team wasn't good enough this year to get in the SEC tourney, much less the NCAA.

West Coast 3 week trip to start the season off since we know we'll just be back there if we aren't hosting...

I said earlier this year that we should play Dallas Baptist mid-week in Shreveport, since there are no viable in-state opponents there, and it would give the North La people a chance to see LSU.

nobody is saying LSU did all they could to secure a bid, not at all

fact is, LSU left the get fricked over door cracked and the NCAA kicked it in

did LSU hurt themselves terribly? of course. did LSU get screwed by the NCAA? yes, absolutely

the committee wanted to see a quality non conference road series according to the member interview on ESPN .. so that was one of THE reasons ... i would rather bite the bullet this year and learn some important lessons that may serve us well for the next decade rather than going two and grab a brew at UCLA or something and falsely thinking things are peachy keen ..

using this as your only reason doesn't make a good argument

it has happened before to teams worse than us. it doesn't mean it isn't rare, but you have to look at the big picture

Well, I am just addressing the St. Johns vs LSU thing here, and St. Johns finished second in their conference. They were going to get a bid.

That's three times in 5 years we've been fricked by the selection committee.

1. 2006 - making the SECT and MSU getting in as the #9 team
2. Getting sent to UCLA to play the toughest 3 seed in the tourney
3. Enjoying a nice beatdown from the "expansion of the sport" into the Northeast.

it started in 1999

the super regionals were created to break up the SEC dominance of the mid to late 90's and we got fricked right off the bat by being sent to alabama for the super
