JJ doesn't often make good or quick decisions either in the run or pass and JL does not like to get hit and starts back footing or dancing whenever someone gets within five yards of him.

There you go. And any competent coaching staff would (A) create an option game for JJ and dump out all the stuff he's not good at, and/or (B) work on drills to have JL start throwing rockets with all his weight moving forward.

It's not that hard, and it's pretty stupid to think that the coaches are trying to do either one of these things and the QBs just won't let them do it.

If Alabama had JJ at QB, they would still have a very above-average SEC offense.

If South Carolina had JL at QB, they would still be going to the SECCG.

It's the coaching at LSU that's the problem.

And this whole phenomenon of throwing the QBs (or the O-linemen, or the WRs, or whomever else) under the bus is just the typical LSU fan reaction of being overly broad in criticisms.

It happened in 2008 when people started blaming JL and the offense for the defense's performance.

It happened in 2009 when people started blaming "Third and Chavis" for the offense's performance.

It's happening now that people are blaming the players for the coaches still--STILL!--not getting the offensive players on the same page with a coherent scheme ... any coherent scheme.

We had people bash the lines for getting "dominated" by Auburn, which was complete and utter horseshite, since both our lines outplayed theirs.

We had people saying that our team just didn't have the talent right now to compete with top teams in the conference.

We had people blame Russell Shepard for not being smart enough or coachable enough to learn Crowton's wonderful system.

It's absurd.

I don't know what it is about people that just makes them need to tear down more than the center of the real problem. It's overkill.

Some of this has to be on Crowton though. Yes, the performance of our quarterbacks are probably below mediocre actually but, I can't help but think that under a competent OC, they would be anywhere from mediocre to somewhat effective.

Wow...I agree with most of what you said but not this. Do you really think both of our lines outplayed theirs. Man, I guess I have no concept for judging line play then.

Lee had two potential touchdowns dropped. One should have been caught and the other was caught but called incomplete. This, along with the other drops, would have changed the qb stats drastically.

With apologies to his bro that posts here, RR dropped a beautifully thrown TD pass. For that distance, it couldn't have been thrown better, and the one TT dropped, while low, is one he dammed well be able to catch if he expects to play on Sundays.

To an extent, sure.

QB coaching and, perhaps, the entire offensive scheme may be problematic. BUT, I maintain that neither JJ or JL have "it" whatever "it" may be . . . decision making ability, accuracy under pressure, whatever. People saw this problem coming as soon as RP was gone.

Overall you have many good points, but I am not sure I would say this one... JMO

On his pass to Randle in the UNC game, and his long td pass to Randle in the Bama game, he waited so long to decide/throw the ball that he barely (and I mean barely) got the ball out of his hand before getting nailed. His success on those plays was very fortunate, as most QB's have a release that would have not been nearly as bang-bang. I am glad he got them off, but it you watch the film it is scary close and we just got very fortunate on both of his TD pass completions

Everyone chill. We will never be perfect in all aspects of the game. And our passing game is our weakness this year. Realize this, come to grips with it, and move on.

In the 2nd half, Auburn beat us at the line of scrimmage on numbers and nothing else.

People who said we got beat because our linemen were less "physical" or because we supposedly "missed tackles" more than normal are fricking morons. Our DEs were specifically told by the coaching staff to crash in and commit. Our LBs were specifically told by the coaching staff to lay back and wait. Predictably, we got burned by it.

Count me moronic then. Never claimed to be a football guru but I thought I might have a commons sense understanding. Perhaps not.

Fairley beat Dworaczyk all day, and we refused to make adjustments for it. That's it. Nobody else on Auburn's D-line was better than anybody we were sending up against them.

On the other side, of the ball, maybe you can say that Levingston was overmatched, and that Mingo predictably played a terrible game always running in the wrong direction. That's it.

Not that I want to get into this, because it's a distraction bringing up old arguments, but just saying...

The QBs look mediocre, because they are mediocre. Not having anyone to develop their limited skills, isn't helping matters.

I think our WRs are just as mediocre at getting open and catching the ball. Add all three together with an average o-line and you get what you see.

. . .is it safe to say that JL is pretty damn terrible, too?

who knows, really?

We know JJ is terrible. His tentative play stunts the entire offense. That fact is cemented by the offensive rankings since he has taken over as QB.

Lee has to come into the game where the rhytmn has been established by JJs weak effort (either turnovers or 3 and outs). The coaches are already in protect mode, and wont unleash him, until they absolutely have to, and he usually come through. JJ rarely comes through.

As a freshman, Lee led a more productive offense than JJ ever has, because he was the one setting the rhythm, not JJ.

JJ is terrible, Lee is mediocre. I would like to see Lee start just one time with this defense.

It isn't fair to judge any offensive player on this team as long as Crowton is the offensive coordinator.

He is, far and away, the biggest problem with our team. This shouldn't shock anyone who has looked into his coaching history.

Agreed. They too, have no one to develop their skill sets. Gonzales and Stud are a total dumpster fire. They need to go, along with Crouton.
