Orgeron said he favors rules designed to protect players' heads, however, he said the current rule was enforced in a "very unfair" way against White after linebacker leveled Mississippi State quarterback Nick Fitzgerald in the fourth quarter of LSU's 19-3 victory Saturday night.

"I don't think that targeting should have been called. I think he tried to pull off and I think it's a very stiff penalty," Orgeron said while speaking before a Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation Quarterback Club luncheon on Tuesday. "He did not try to hit him with his head. He put his hands in front,

"Hopefully they do something about it. I think something needs to be done," Orgeron said. "I'm going to voice my opinion and that's all I can do."

Ree, seeing as you're in the office there, it would be more germane to your post to have a photograph of Coach Orgeron actually, you know, speaking before the Quarterback Club. They are posted on social media, surely you can find them?

That way, you can get rid of that crappy photo you seem to love, but which makes you look obsessed and like a predator.

That's great but O needs to demand an appeal and have the call reviewed by the NCAA.

Just might be the lone Ree post I’ve ever upvoted - In spite of the relentless O stretching pic. At least this post has some substance.

They need to demand that the SEC office is moved out of Birmingham to either Atlanta or to a state where no SEC team exists.

Make leather helmets and broken nose jokes if you will. But I'm a believer that if you went backwards in terms of the advances in padding and technology that modern football protective equipment offers, it would naturally reduce some of the violent forcible contact that we see. Self preservation alone would slow down collisions and reduce head to head contact.

That said, the rules in both CFB and the NFL need massive overhaul. At some point, we have to realize that it is a full contact sport with inherent risks. Diluting the physicality of the game or altering techniques that create subjective/unavoidable penalties isn't the answer. It actually creates potential for more injuries as a D player checks up to go half speed to avoid an awkward hit and the offensive player goes full speed because he has all the advantage.
