Well of course. The odds are heavily in their favor then.
We had them stop by last year. At the time when they came there was maybe 2 or 3 minors there drinking of the 25 or so present. When they asked for id's and they got about 5 or 6 who were 21+ they just left.

Is this even legal?

We had no drinking games being played and everyone was acting well behaved. One underaged kid was caught so they decided to take all of our kegs. I'm pretty sure he even wandered over from another tailgate. It was completely unnecissary.
If that was the case....then I do agree it was way too severe.

true, but I found the enforcement of these inconsistent. There were student tailgates near us that had beer pong and were acting much more out of line. yet, they never got confronted by the police. ...were you serving minors or not? This does NOT excuse you from the law. Either you broke the law or not. Period.

At the time I didn' think it was. But when I asked him about it he told me to "frick off" or he was going to give us 70 contributing counts (even though he only caught one kid).

if you aren't causing problems, why should they come and mess with you?

Since a tailgate isn't a defined area, and they find one guy who is in or near with alcohol that they can't prove came from your keg, they have the right to take the beer (shell included).
I want to see them win this in court...

It really pisses me off when cops crack down on lawbreakers.
Those bastards.
Those bastards.

See my first post in this thread... myself and two buddies were walking to the game, legal drinking age.
They're just hustling up business on a busy day. Out of towners are less likely to come back on a random weekday to fight it in court.

my only beef with them is be consistent with it, and not act like complete assholes about the situation unless need be.
There's a reason why there are large student tailgates, many of them serving to underage kids. There's never been enforcement on gamedays unless you were visibly drunk, walking around with a drink, holding a can/bottle, or outside of your tent. You can't blame students for being used to how drinking has regularly been loosely enforced in years past. We take measures to reduce risk if underage, but suddenly, those don't matter anymore because they are now cracking down even if you're acting normal inside your tent.
The law is the law. I understand. But don't pick on just certain student tailgates and at least understand why student tailgates are how they are.

What about when they pull out their huge law cocks to screw some people over who did nothing wrong? Does that piss you off? Cause it pisses me off.

cops shouldn't be messing with people who are doing nothing to endanger the people around them and who are minding their own business. Seems pretty hypocritical that they can give me a ticket for sitting in a chair talking, drinking a beer when they were doing the same thing not too long ago (along with all of yall)

Apparently you can't camp out anymore either. We've done it on Friday nights for years and they came by and told us we couldn't do it anymore. Last year during the game some of our group were outside watching the game on TV fed the cops & they said they thought it was a "good idea" that we camped out. Now we can't. Guess the powers that be are passing down some new rules. Can't fault them though. They are just doing their jobs.

You can fault them when they tell you to "get the frick away from me" and "frick off" to people that just want to ask why their property is being taken.

are their anti-vagrancy laws in the United States? I'm pretty sure you don't have to carry ID on you

I just told him thanks and that I'll see him again someday when I'm a lawyer and he's still working as a pathedic LSU policeman.
