quote:Exactly. Hopefully the students don't budge. They aren't hurting anyone.
The students and their parents are the ones paying the tuition, room and board at LSU along with their student tickets yet they are treated with some disdain by the university.

you thought your response was witty didnt you... I know what you were trying to do but it wasnt funny or clever. Rather idiotic.

That must be why the fights and cursing are limited to only the student section. Oh wait...

I believe the students should be allowed the right to define themselves and brand themselves however they wish. If they want to come across as trashy, disrespectful idiots... then let them. These are college students. They are adults. Who are we to look at them like some sort of "super adult" who needs to hold their hand in everything they do? As long as the students are comfortable with everyone thinking they are moronic and sexually retarded, then fine. We will be proud of them, our vulgar, mentally stunted, adult student fan base.

Only a few would have the sack to do this....I don't even think Balls would be agreeable to this.
And that's the point to it all right there. If you're willing to chant STTDB in the stadium, but not willing to print it on baby clothes... then that's being hypocritical. Not to mention cowardly.
If you believe in free speech, and what you say... you should be willing to say it anywhere, under any condition.
Free speech is not a shield to hide behind. Free speech is a torch held high to draw attention to what you believe in.
If you believe in your right to chant STTDB, own it. Print the shirt. Wear it to church. Or shut the frick up.

Given the amount of Baton fricking Rouge shirts around campus on gameday, I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be an issue.

The people putting on the play, or symphony, or dinner determine what is appropriate at their event and how to handle this, just as the university is doing in this case.
Wow.
So, in your opinion, the people putting on the event don't have any say in the decorum of the event?

So the university is going to install cameras in the classrooms so we can see what the professors are saying? I know there's obscenities used by some of them. I mean, they are the employees of the university.
LSU is a STATE university and the state has limits to it's power and one of them should be you don't get to put cameras on people to watch their every word, especially the ones that are currently paying tuition.
Like I said, if you are going to enforce rules in the stadium then remove the fricking alcohol from the suites since it is not supposed to be there and don't tell me that the upper decks aren't a part of the stadium. That's a lie.

and if you really want to get down to it, the upper decks arent connected. therefore arent part of the stadium... thats besides the point.
you are fighting a fight you are destined to lose. You are acting like the kid that fights his parents when they tell you you cant go over to tommys house.

But hey, they're protecting their children. (Speaking of a shield to hide behind....)

I've only seen a few BFR shirts over the years at football games.
I don't know why anyone would want to wear that. BR is a hellhole (and yes I live there.) Murder rate is higher than Chicago. We might have a Top 10 football team most of the time but BR is nothing to brag about.
