What the frick is up with TD’s obsession with everything ole miss does in the portal?? You frickers want to be ole miss so bad, it’s insane
That of course is not the point/"obession". But Ole Miss, Alabama, and A&M as of now are the permanent opponents assigned by the SEC to LSU. If you don't think that LSU fans should keep up with those 3 teams recruiting, who the coaches are, etc, then you are just whistling past the graveyard. The responses to my original post have been overblown and quite frankly a lot more "insane" than my original point could have ever dreamed of being. As I said before, if you and others think the post was unnecessary, skip the post completely. That would be "sane".

The way they have Womack ranked so highly is laughable

Agree 100%. I've already given my opinion about Perkins so the only reason I'm bringing him up now is Womack looks like a DE version of Perkins. An incredible athlete who really is undisciplined on the field and is a one trick pony. I think Womack would be a good pass rusher but not so great against the run. And for anyone who would say, "Ok, just use him on 3rd and 8 or whatever", I would draw play the heck out of him in his area. We might be wrong about him but I too believe he is overrated until he proves to me he can at least give a damn about stopping the run.

Just get some good players to fill our needs.

Difference is, BK hits the portal based on position need, LK hits the portal based on talent alone.
I like BK's strategy much better.

Yeah, if you remember Kiffin and Orgeron were thick as thieves going back to Tennessee days. They clearly have the same recruiting philosophy, Make a splash in the team rankings and the class hype signing as many highly rated prospects as possible (Orgeron did it from HS, Kiffin the portal). That of course MAY be at the expense of balance of the class by position. Orgeron was horrible at filling needs, and I'm not so sure Kiffin isn't the same.

Who gives a shite, get the best players at the position of need and coach them up and hopefully it translates to the field.

I have no idea why people like yourself care about this.
Being interested in a recruiting ranking as a way of evaluating incoming players makes some sense. Getting good players is key. And some think a high ranking is indicative of that.
But you are starting with the premise that incoming players are great. If that’s the case why would anyone care what the ranking is?
