Not a bad idea. I've also always liked the Saints helmet with the fleur de lis. I think LSU could do something similar. Hear me out, I know everyone is opposed to the idea, but how about a fleur de lis that captures all of the key aspects of Louisiana:

It was started during the 79-80 season but gained popularity during the 80-81 season by some bro's from St. Aug at LSU basketball games. That was the best year ever for LSU basketball. That was when the PMAC was packed the whole season. The same bro's later started it at the Saints games .
