Steve Smith was one of the key players in the Giants' run to the Super Bowl. The guy game up with a bunch of key third down catches in the playoffs including the Super Bowl.

So if you put him on a milk carton, make sure to get a good picture of his new, shining ring.

I am sure glad there are no threads or negative comments about USC today. I try and try to count them, but each time I think I am finished another thread pops up.

Strength of Schedule debate and tough OOC games (Page 1 2 )

LSU fans jealous? (Page 1 2 )

Why can't LSU & USC (Page 1 2 3 )

Those don't include the ones with USC bashing right out of the blue.

i would laugh my arse off when this happens...

1. Oklahoma (13-0)
2. LSU (13-0)
3. USC (12-0)

.....USC would share the title again (AP) by virtue of a win in the Rose Bowl.....unless, of course, somehow they would lose that game......THEN i would laugh my arse off!

Anything could happen in college football, but given LSU's OOC schedule, it's not very likely. USC is the only team of the three that plays ALL of it's games against BCS "Big 6" conference competition.

While I expect the Tigers to do better than many folks think, I'd be shocked if they finish undefeated. Frankly, I don't see any major conference team going undefeated.

On the “Trojan Football Forum”, I got blacklisted for asking how many end of season top-15 teams did USC play last year. That one question got me blacklisted for being, in their words. "too negative". LSU played four or five, depending on which poll you follow. Can any USC fan count to zero and give the correct answer?

The snobbery that the Rose Bowl represents is nauseating. Those snobs chose Illinios instead of a real SEC power like Georgia for USC’s opponent--sad, very sad. They weren’t about to take a chance of having both the Big-10 and Pac-10 champions lose to SEC teams in BCS bowls.

I did make the mistake of bothering to post on a wearesc topic once a couple years ago... went to considerable effort to detail all of the out of conference matchups between pac and sec schools against other BCS conferences - and I found my effort was ignored and eventually deleted (IMO because it was non USC homerific and therefore not welcome)

Anyway, the thread was a not so atypical badmouthing the sec as over-rated... looking selectively at the bad losses they have had out of conference.

What I did was pretty simple really - just listed every recent out of conference bcs vs bcs game and noted the chance of a team winning or losing was directly related to the final win loss record of the respective schools (with occassional exceptions or upsets when a team with a worse record scored an upset win)

Anyway, when you listed things out the sec had a marginally better quality of wins and losses on this basis than the pac 10... meaning the best indicator of how good a given team is not what conference they come from... but their final record (even when the records are similar)... and also meaning the win/loss records of pac and sec schools on the balance are not inflated or artificially lowered in most cases. As Parcells might put it "you are as good as your record"

Back onto the subject of the Rose Bowl... since both the rose and the sugar lost a normal representative (big 10 and sec champ) I'm not sure who would pick first... by pseudo tradition the Rose Bowl folks say they should always take a big 10 or pac 10 school if any is available...

But I think this displays a lack of knowledge of the traditional... the Rose Bowl was not always a matchup of big ten and pac 10... even if the member schools of each conference were always the same

Interestingly enough one of the schools to play in the Rose Bowl around a half century ago was Georgia... perhaps that would be as historically notable as a big ten participant who wasn't the conference champion anyway?

Interesting. Post it here, if you still have it. I'd like to see it.
