Nice try...but the Bush situation didn't even begin until the end of 2004. BTW, speaking of cheating... Looks like someone needs to pay better attention to the news. LINK No telling how long that stuff's been going on in SEC country.
The article specifically mentions Lyles' relationship with OREGON players as well. Thus, I'd say that there's no telling how long that stuff's been going on in PAC 10 country, either.
As to the original point of the thread, I was fortunate enough to attend both USC - LSU games. The 1979 game was a classic in a loud, raucous setting. The 1984 rematch was pretty much a snooze fest in an atmosphere quiet enough to allow you to go to sleep. That said, the LA Coliseum had hosted the 1984 Summer Olympics only months prior to the game and looked better than it had in quite some time. Outside of the easy LSU win, that's pretty much the best thing I can say for that day.
As far as all the 2003 title ad nauseum babble goes, both teams have their trophies and claim their titles, nothing will change any of that. We've both had a very good run over the last decade, so I'm quite happy with how things have played out.

Hey Mr. Tangerine Man--then I guess it's time to let it go that you did NOT win (errrr cheat) or share a title in 2003....
As stated, even the BCS could not make up their mind on how to classify 2003.
This is the BCS talking in 2004 and 05, not me.

For the only time since the BCS was formed, there is a split national champion. LSU finishes atop the coaches' poll by beating Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl in a pairing of the top two teams in the BCS Standings. USC, ranked first in both polls on Bowl Selection Sunday, is left out of the BCS championship game when the Trojans finish third in the BCS standings. But USC wins the Associated Press' championship after beating Michigan in the Rose Bowl. Oklahoma, which spent the season as the top-ranked team in both polls, earns a spot in the Sugar Bowl by finishing first in the final BCS Standings even though the Sooners lose to Kansas State in the Big 12 championship game. LSU, the SEC champion, edges USC for second place in the final BCS Standings to advance to the Sugar Bowl.
The Matchups
Sugar: (2) LSU 21, (1) Oklahoma 14
Orange: (9) Miami 16, (7) Florida State 14
Rose: (3) USC 28, (4) Michigan 14
Fiesta: (5) Ohio State 35, (10) Kansas State 28
The Result
A split decision: LSU finishes atop the coaches' poll; USC is No. 1 in the Associated Press poll.

and yet again...the 2003 BCS trophy isn't cut in half, it's alive, well and in one piece in Baton Rouge. That doesn't change no matter who tries to say differently...NEXT.

No one has ever stated that USC, USC fans, or I claim the 2003 coaches' (BCS) NC--except for some LSU fans that is.

Well, actually ESPN tried it a couple of times...then again, they're the same guys that had to recently change a story on their website because it carried a quote attributed to QB Drew Brees of the SAN DIEGO CHARGERS.
Sometimes, all you can do is just laugh at the madness.
