It is ashamed that LSU doesn't play Tulane this year, Tulane ranked 25th and LSU 26th. It was an incredible rivalry that ended due to political BS. I bleed Purple and Gold but not having this game every year is nuts.

You must be old.

It's not an interesting game to me...at all.

Yeah, but ok to play UAB and Southern but kill a century old rivalry

It's not a "rivalry". A better word may be "tradition" if we hand't abandoned the game two plus decades ago.

But, your comparisons (UAB and Southern) are appropriate. Nobody gets excited or cares about those games either.

I really can't imagine any LSU fan getting excited about a Tulane game.

I would like to see it picked but like once every 2 to 3 years and Tiger Stadium only as Tulane is the second or third best team in the state and would be a better team than a southern, McNeese, or ULM matchup.

No one gives a shite about playing Tulane besides super old fans. They have a good season once every 25 years. That does not mean LSU should save a spot on the schedule for them.

I’d rather play big OOC games like UCLA FSU Wisconsin Texas etc.

Yeah yeah but then we play Southern!!

Those most vehemently against playing Tulane cannot fashion a complete sentence. Telling, perhaps.

Tulane should have stayed in the SEC.

Had they stayed, they would be what Vanderbilt is to Tenn. for us.

Yep, and 2 more bonuses:

1. Tulane and Vanderbilt, as the only 2 private schools in the conference, would have been the perfect cross-divisional rivals in the SEC once they went to 2 divisions in 1992.

2. We'd have a team with GREEN in their color scheme in the SEC.

I will say that the best teams fight was...forgetting the year....when the officials actually called the game over when there was still minutes left on the clock.

As earlier posters ALREADY referenced, that was 1984.

My junior year at the Ole War Skule.

And it WAS quite the spectacle to see in person.

One thing I remember was that the old scoreboard ticker in Tiger Stadium which would display simple post-play sentences like "Hilliard rumbles for 10 yards" read during the brawl, "Tulane shows its class".

Tulane is a better game than Southern.

But, if I had the choice of playing Tulane as a rent a win every year...or a variety of similar teams, I definitely want the variety.

It's not that I DON'T want to play Tulane. Rent a wins are a necessary part of today's game. Every now and then would be ok...probably once a decade.

Playing Southern, next year Grambling, is a purely PC move. With all that is going on the country today, not to play either would be to invite the dreaded "R" word. Which is dumb to me as Skip brought the 2 schools together on the playing field years ago. But at least the PC dynamic is understandable, as it is, right or wrong, part of today's reality. There is no PC reason to play the weenies. No financial reason. No cultural reason, as last I heard 85% of its alumni base is from out of state, a large percentage of that from the North East. Its fan base, such as it is, does not care. But to me, the biggest reason not to play them is that their athletic department shites on LSU's fans every chance it gets.

Of all the LSU games I've attended over the years, (More than probably 99% of this Board) the most PO'ed I've been were at three LSU vs Tulane games.

The 1973 14-0 Tulane win in Tulane Stadium.

The 1981 48-7 Tulane win in the Superdome. (GBFTL)

The 1982 31-28 Tulane win in Tiger Stadium. (GBFTL finale in Tiger Stadium)
