We thinking Tanks is going back to 3rd this weekend?

I think you gotta start getting him reps at 3rd before SEC play. Our best lineup is him at 3rd with Beloso/Jones/Jobert at DH, depending on who's hot

Lowder getting touched up a little bit by Duke. 4 runs on 7 hits, only 4 Ks through 4, and at almost 80 pitches. Only mentioning bc Wake is 14-1, top 5 in the nation. Lowder was 3-0 with a .47 ERA.

Arky and La Tech playing. 5-3 Arky. Hagen Smith came out blazing and Arky jumped on Fincher. La Tech fighting back in the 5th. Drost 1-2 with a walk and a K.

Alabama is 14-0, why not ranked?

Same reason LSU wasn't ranked in basketball after non-conference

That and they didn't have the opportunity to play Duquesne

Just realizing Arky's lineup is mostly transfers.

Aside from the kid from Haughton, it’s all portal or juco guys. Kind of weird to be honest, for a staff that’s been together for 5 or so years now.

ETA: some of them are in their 2nd year on campus, but it still points to an issue with the hit rate on hs guys.

Glad you responded. I didn't do a deep dive, but was just shocked to recognize so few names. Quick glance told me I shouldn't recognize many of the names. Stovall, Slavens, kinda recognized another name or 2, but that's it. 3 hole is a grad transfer from Creighton.

Interesting fact. Back during my baseball days at Birmingham Southern, Lucas Steele’s mom was one of our diamond girls and his dad was a freshman on the baseball team when I was a Senior and his uncle was 1 year ahead of me. Lucas was the number 2 catcher out of Alabama last year. He’s a switch hitter and can play multiple positions. I’m impressed he’s worked his way into the starting lineup and it’s crazy how far Mo Hampton has fallen. I remember when he was projected as a possible 1st round pick in the mlb draft.

In your opinion is Samford a better test for Skenes compared to Butler? Just curious

I know you're not asking me but, overall, no...in my opinion. They have a few guys that can hit and won't be overmatched overall. But, the large majority are Butler level or lower.

He'll have to be sharp against certain guys and in certain situations, mainly the 2-5 hitters in the order. Butler really couldn't handle him 1-9, except maybe the Urban kid and the guy that played at Eunice.
