Strong team performances overall this weekend while most of our star athletes are still waiting to get things going later on this season after recently coming off of indoor nationals. Should make for a very interesting national championship meet at Austin this summer.

If we had just kept Wade, we'd be in great shape year round.

Can someone explain the difference between indoor track and outdoor track? LSU was basically a no show in the indoor, and now we are thinking/hoping they can win in the outdoor? How is that possibly? Aren't you either fast or not, indoors or outdoors?

Indoor has fewer events. LSU is usually good at the events that Indoor doesn't include.

Events that happen during the outdoor season but not the indoor:

Men’s:
4x100
1500 meters
3000 steeplechase
110 Hurdles
100 Meters
400 meter hurdles
Hammer
Javelin
Discus
Decathalon

We are a heavy sprints team so adding more sprints and hurdles helps us usually

miss days as a volunteer coach w/ Henry. He was truly frustrated w/ LA. high school's lack of track even though he promoted it, silently. He was not a "me" coach.

Texas has badass track, high school. w/ zero promo.

Arkansas can do that with indoor but not outdoor.

Their women won outdoor in 2016 and 2019 while the men have only won it indoors. They also have a plethora of sprint talent, jumpers and multi-event athletes.

Except the people complaining by and large did not understand that there is a difference between indoor and outdoor.

That’s the problem with the fair weather fans. Can’t blame them for not keeping up. It’s a long season, the meets aren’t advertised enough, and it’s assumed that LSU is good so that as long as they have some type of top 10 national finish, we had a successful season. The goal is always win nationals and not enough people know.

and wasnt it a couple of weeks ago someone was bitching about how far we had fallen off t&f?

We are built to run outdoors. We are finally getting some excellent distance runners. Field looks strong too.

I can wait for us to host the SEC Championship meet...Should be fun...

I remember the year we scored the second most points in NCAA history and he was bitching about some 15th seeded pole vaulter not making it to nationals as if that was some sort of catastrophe and indictment of the program. But, he’s been to the Texas Relays a bunch of times, and that makes him an expert.
