i remember being in kyle field in either 86 or 87....the cadets came marching in pregame....seemed like it took an hour....and when they first started coming in, the ton of LSU fans there had flags and shakers and the marshals were taking them from the fans because they said it was disrespectful...we won the game like 17-6 or 16-7....there were also signs around the A&M campus that said DO NOT WALK ON GRASS....i dont know what that was all about....but a buddy of ours took a picture of another bud takin a leak on the sign on the grass....was funny then...

that 90 or 91 game @ a&m, i think it was hallmans first year....that was the hottest game i have ever been to....true, people passing out like flies, emt's had their hand full that day....and they positioned the opposing fans at the very end of the horse shoe....there was like one exit for all 7,000 LSU fans....took forever to get to our seats...and even longer to get out......they did run out of water....

as far as being treated bad...didnt happen...maybe because we got our arse kicked big time....

We'll be meeting again soon.

What's past is in the past, but so you know, your buddy's buddy did the equivalent of peeing on a soldier's grave. The grass of which you speak is part of the Memorial Student Center which is a memorial to Aggies who gave their lives in WWI and WWII (it's since been expanded to other wars). But, plenty of A&M students (hard to call them Aggies) walk on the grass.

I remember as a kid wearing my hat inside the MSC and an older gentleman approaching me and telling me about how it is a memorial to fallen soldiers. I felt like a huge jackass.

Most people that do it either forget or just didn't know, that's why most often someone will try to subtly remind/inform people.

The grass around the Memorial Student Center is the only grass that people aren't supposed to walk on. However, as a student I developed the habit of not walking across grass if there was a sidewalk that could get me to my destination. As a result the A&M campus looks really well-maintained.

It was a great rivalry throught the 80s and even early 90's. My first tiger game was in 86' vs A&M and I still think of them as one of our biggest rivals. Memory...I think it was 93' at college station and drove from Miami (living there then) with top off on Jeep picking buddies up along the way. Stopped in 'Cut and Shoot' tx for food and interrupted a KKK rally. Got to CS during their pep rally and blasted LSU fight song and should have got our arse kicked but did not. Great tradition between these two teams.

The '86 season opener was one of my favorite games as an LSU student. It was one of the first ESPN night telecasts from Tiger Stadium. The student section and the whole stadium was very loud and into the game. The pre-and post-game parties were kick-arse also.

It was the first meeting since the mid 70s and the LA A&M/TX A&M and military school old-time rivalry was still strong. We had also landed a top national recruit (Harvey Williams) from their backyard.

We dominated and won 35-17.

On a personal note, the game was also when my (future) spouse and I resumed dating. A few weeks later we were steady and the rest is history. I have real good memories of this game.
