I say horse shite to all of the excuses - there are many many more in-state students than out of state.
PS- I left at halftime to go drink more beer. You got a problem with that?

The students shouldn't complain when Alleva takes away more of their seats this coming year.
Why on earth would he take them away? He won't be able to sell the tickets he already has available, so he won't need any more. If, for some reason he did, however, I doubt there'd be any students left out who wanted tickets. 2010 will probably be the least-anticipated season of LSU football since 1999. Watching the final death march of a lame-duck coach is no fun for anybody.
On the bright side, Tigerdroppings.com will be hopping as people anxiously wait for the inevitable announcement.

quote:Game was packed at the beginning. These pics are from the 4th quarter, correct? Lots did leave but there were lots of students considering school was out.
The fan support especially from the student section for this game was a joke

The '07 Arkansas game was packed.
Go figure.
Good team, ranked #1, headed to SEC championship game = packed stadium
Shitty team, eliminated from contention for anything worthwhile = empty seats
This is not rocket science.

I've done some pretty stupid things in my life, too, but I usually don't brag about them.

OK lets not bash the students for leaving early then. what happened to all the fans in the gold section who left. So bad the ESPN announcers were clowning us. If it was the first time it happened I would understand, but go back and look at how many times "the best fans in America" couldn't make it through 60 minutes of football.

I was a student earlier this decade and we packed the Arkansas game out in the student section. I think it was 2001. Nobody expected it but people couldn't find tickets at all and I was stuck a the top because I got there late. Same thing again in 2003. Our students now suck bad but whine on here how terrible it is that LSU took tickets away. Quit worrying about gay chants and trying so hard to get on tv and cheer the team for 4 quarters. For what you pay, you should never complain at all.

FYI the dorms, sorority and fraternity houses closed at 2 pm on wednesday and reopened at 3pm on sunday. so even if students wanted to come back for the game they had no place to stay. i suggest you take your complaint to the chancellors office. i thought under those conditions the student section was better than i expected. in the past it has been worse when the game was on friday.

I still think the attitude of the general fan base has become extremly crappy ever since we gained some success.
That being said, I am not blaming all of the last couple year woes on their shoulders alone. The aging fan base on the lower West side really needs to give their seats up and stick to their sofas. Also the raising the ticket prices has brought an element of fans that are more worried about the game as a social event rather than pulling as a die hard LSU fan. Put all these together and you can see why the fans and stadium atmosphere is not where it once was.
The whole leaving due to traffic is horse shite though. 100% of the people that go to the games know what the deal is, let's stop it with the traffic excuses. We all know it is a commitment during the fall, so be prepared....

the students in the 90's come on here and say they packed the stadium, in 5 years the students from now will com on here bitching about attendance and say they packed the stadium.
Actually it is students from the 70's, 80's and 90's bitching how bad the recent students suck... what does that tell you?

the only way that a post Thanksgiving day game is gonna draw students is if and when the Tulane rivalry returns to its' once upon a time cachet. Which means that Tulane has to start fielding a team worth playing a game with beyond a rent a win.

The thing that I dont understand is why would you buy tickets if you are just going to leave halfway through a great game? LSU used to have the greatest fan base in college football. Tiger Stadium was the most feared place to play. Now people want 2 leave early 2 go drink? thats ridiculous. drink after the game. LSU needs our support for 60+ minutes of football.
For the record, I am a student. I have been to every game this season (including road games) except for the washington game. It makes me sick that Tiger Stadium isnt what it used to be. Dont buy tickets if you arent going to stay and support your team.
