Technically our "thing" didn't start until 91, and 93 with Skip and the 1st 2 Nattys.

87 was when lsu baseball really took form. Took til 91 to Win it all but baseball was big before we won it.

If LSU was required to hire a Skip assistant to replace him after 2001 Jim Wells would have been a better hire than Smoke. At least Wells had considerable success at a big school in a major conference. Wells fell off at the end of his career but he really built a good program at Alabama for a while.
