totally not needed

Im pretty sure we would all be down with 4wr sets and power runs after the last 4 seasons

But could anyone make it through the season without a Mett run option or two?

Stud does have a background in employing a spread offense.

I love the spread, but you have to have some real offensive talent to run it effectively and not just at QB.

Plus, your D better be both good and deep cause they might spend a lot of time on the field.

I'm sure we will get a clue in the spring.

We better not be running a spread with all the depth we have at RB. We need to line up with 2 tight-ends and beat the crap out of the opposing defense.

Yeah, because that looked great on 1/9. We have depth everywhere. Why line up in 2 tights with the skill that we have?

Miles needs to do like he does on defense, hire someone and turn the offense over to him.

It seemed to work for defense.

Team is a lot better off when Miles keeps his paws off it.

Hire assistants and let them do their jobs.

We dont really need spread (I thin that hurts out defense more than it would help our Offense). We just need to run what we did last year but have the ability to throw on obvious passing situations

I like it! Mix it up with the RBs.

You will NEVER beat Bama if you think you only have to pass in obvious situations. We need to throw the ball more on 1st down and actually try a pass in the middle of the field to a TE every now and then.

Mett already proved he is more than capable of reading defenses and checking out of plays.

I think this is good news for us Tiger fans if the coaches are even talking about him being able to handle it. Can't wait for the Spring Game so we can finally see how this team will run... or not... I guess Les never likes to open the playbook during the Spring Game...

WHY? Dear God, we just rammed it down everyone's throat playing power football last year. If we want to mix in some spread thats fine, but if we get away from what won us the first 13 games last year I will be annoyed. Power football >>>>>> spread

And not being able to do anything else cost us a national championship. You HAVE to be able to throw the ball in today's game. Bama figured that shite out and took us to the woodshed.

Yeah I want pretty much the same as last year. Just need to execute in the passing game. If the coaches think spreading it out will help, then so be it.

Running some spread sets is fine, but if we are talking in terms of completely switching to a spread it is stupid. Watching LSU run a spread offense is miserable. We have had power football personel and have been trying to run spread for about 3 years. We finally decide to take it back to power football and after being a damn sucessfull ground team we want to switch? Why? Too much sucess on the ground?

I'm not talking about the option or trying to incorporate what we tried to do over and over and over in the national championship with Mett at QB.

A spread can be anything from what Tebow did at Florida to what we saw against Geno Smith at WV this year.

I just think we have perfect personnel to run a very efficient, very balanced pro style attack that uses a ton of play action and takes shots down the field.

A spread offense with a predominantly passing QB like Mett also requires lighter, zone-blocking offensive linemen for a lot of stunts and traps in the running game. We have huge arse road graders up front with big running backs. It just wouldn't make sense to me to run a spread full time with this personnel.

I'm all for a few new packages here and there and changing stuff up from time to time, but a pure spread would not be a sustainable recipe for success this year. So if you thought for some reason my "Dear God no" comment was because I just blindly assumed it would be more short side option, you were wrong.

We're not ever going to go to a full time spread.

Did Alabama run the spread or is A.J. McCarron just a hell of a lot better QB than Jordan Jefferson?

Bama attacked our weakness and we just ran it at the strongest part of their defense, plain and simple. They attacked our flats, which were clearly the weakest point of the defense all year. We attacked their D-line and linebackers, which were the strongest part of their defense.
