I didn't say that all. I said it is stupid to argue that publishing a photo without expunging a minor religious symbol constitutes state sponsorship of religion. The Supreme Court would agree with me.

Offensive....
There are people out there that find guys with shirts off offensive, ha.
Putting all your energy into sports....offensive.
Painting your body.....offensive.
That word has cause more grief that the religious people their persecuting.

So by taking out something that someone MIGHT find offensive (which is a bucket of crap) we offend the people that were airbrushed...
Pretty soon we'll all be offended. shite now I'm offended.

Yes, those poor, poor Christians being persecuted. How again exactly?

Or because I own the picture and can do anything I want to do with it, I edit out any potential symbols that would be construed as offensive to a group of people and would possibly invite legal action etc.
I got the impression from your views on other topics you were against minority rule (except maybe the gay marriage issue which I agree with you on, like most other issues) or in in this instance, trying to avoid "offending" a minority group.

So you think the state should sponsor a religion?
If the university should have no business with sponsoring/endorsing a religion why should it denounce or try to hide any of them?

Exactly. Plus there are many religious organizations on LSU's campus such as the Baptist Campus Ministries, Catholic Student Center, Campus Crusade, Episcopalian Student Center, etc.
LSU altered the image of individuals which they did not get permission to do. The individuals attending LSU had crosses painted on their bodies. It does not mean that LSU is endorsing Christianity if they had used the unaltered image.

I wonder if they refused to show pictures of the baseball team at Hoover in ''09! The whole team wore crosses for the whole tournament!

I wish Lsu had never used their picture. But to your point, did they ask their permission to use their picture in the first place? I'm pretty sure whoever took the picture would do alterations before printing anyway (lighting, shading, captions, headers). So taking out the symbol, to me, is no different than removing someone flipping the bird or alcohol containers. I guess Lsu just didn't expect a group of religious freaks to be so sensitive about such a small detail. They were wrong..

Lsu is not denouncing any religion
Their responsibility is to remain secular and not endorse any specific religion

fixed it for you!

Well they should have just used another photo.
What happens when some young atheist who isn't familiar with LSU sees that picture and then goes to a game? Is he gonna be "offended" because LSU falsely represented themselves and these "hypocritical, ignorant, backwoods, retards" have crosses on their chests?

But my point is the PC, minority rule bullshite is garbage.
i'm pretty sure lsu is just following the rules for being a public university

A Public university cannot endorse a specific religion.
By showing their picture with the crosses isn't endorsing christianity over any other religion. Only if they allowed the cross to be displayed but not the star of david or some other religious emblem is it unconstitutional. It's amazing how this has been twisted into no one can express their beliefs instead of the original intent, that everyone IS ALLOWED to display their religion.

If they were Muslims with crescent moons on their chests would you say the same thing?
Posted on 10/21/12 at 6:12 pm to TheDoc
Yes, if they wave a black Al Qaeda flag that endorses killing all who don't convert to Islam and practice Sharia Law then no. True Muslims are peace loving people.
