CajunRevolution, thanks for your post. Glad to see another person on here that has some understanding about this as well.

Well, first you'd have to hold an event. You'd have to have it in writing that any pictures taken at said event become your intellectual property. Then you could do as you please if I chose to attend and allow my picture to be taken by your photographer.
If I felt the image was falsely accusing me of some criminal activity or defaming me in some way I could sue.
If you use it as parody or in some non-commercial fashion I would have no case there either.

No problem. Standard entertainment and marketing contract terms and releases. I used to write the contracts and do them for LSU. They know better than this.

You're way off base. Like the logic is figure 8s.

It would seem not since you don't even understand the concept that photographs taken at an event are artistic works and covered under intellectual property laws.

You obviously have no understanding of the legal aspects relating to LSU's use of this image.
Just because you disagree with them removing a tiny cross from a gameday picture doesn't mean it is immoral or illegal.

I've worked in film and television marketing and advertising. Even with images that were pre-approved, they still must be approved in every format by the studio legal reps, agents and celebs. .

Are really going to sit here and question me on this? These aren't artistic photographs. They are owned by LSU. It speaks to ownership.
LSU retains ownership of those photographs but they are licensed to photographers/newspapers. The same is done with your image and LSU. LSU retains ownership of all images taken at the game, they then license them out to be used without manipulation.
What isn't included is manipulating your personal images you twat.

I would think I do considering I held the position for four years writing these contracts for LSU Athletics. During that time I wrote them, we never had a problem with this issue. Why? Because I made sure we had specific language in them that spelled out the ownership of the material is retained by LSU. What was not included was a clause for manipulation and any basic entertainment agreement- whether they are Tutu the Dog halftime show or Lady Gaga- would never consent to that.

I'm not going to question you on this. You're wrong.
These are gameday images. Photographs are considered artistic works under intellectual property laws. They are not using an individual student to promote the game. They are using a gameday image of fans at the game. They can warp it, distort it, throw balloons on it, and do as they please in the use of this image to promote LSU football twat.

It's basic stuff. You own your personal image. You license the use. This is like basic entertainment law crap.

Congrats. You're getting sued. Good day.

Sorry, but taking dictation and typing it into a computer doesn't count as writing the contract. By the way, feel free to attempt a lawsuit against LSU. Good luck with that.

You're a complete fool. LSU gets sued on a regular basis and doesn't always win. LSU isn't always right.

So we've progressed to the point of airbrushing the Cross out...congratulations?

that isn't a good comparison. That would actually cause public embarrassment, and I could easily see someone finding damages.
It wasn't an argument either, I was just curious.

I find it amazing that ESPN, ABC or CBS can show these devoted (equally to LSU and to Jesus Christ) kids every week on national TV, but LSU has to go and photoshop them. It actually brings much MORE attention to the cross. So what if they had a Jewish symbol painted on their chest? Would that be airbrushed out? I doubt it. It is obvious that Christianity has been the focus of all these "separationist" congregants...

Seriously? Conspirary theorist much?
If it was any religious symbol they would have taken it out. Those are national television networks free to do as they please while LSU is a state-funded university and could put itself at risk if they were seen as promoting a specific religion.
I suppose you supported the Ground Zero mosque too? Or are you just a hypocrit who only complains when Christianity is supposedly being attacked?

No, I am an open minded person who happens to value the cross and find it ridiculous when Christianity seems to be the one religion (if you can even call it a religion) that is attacked. And speaking of Muslims, if you read their scripture, it points to the death of Westerners like you and me. In fact it is an avenue into their heaven. So if I find that offensive then I am very sorry. You find nothing like that in Christian scriptures. Read both and tell me your findings. Don't just post here and throw %$&&* around for discussion sake...

You should set your alarm because you really need to wake up. Removal of Christian symbolism from government is about removal of all religion from government. It just so happens that is the only one forced into it. Doesn't your religion teach you about being arrogant and prideful?
Real attacks on freedom of religion are things like telling someone where they are or aren't allowed to live or worship because their religion is different from yours. Or attacking another religion and claiming their scriptures describe the killing of "Westerners". Heres a hint: They don't.
