I bet schools like Troy have "North Korea -style" hacker/stat guys that unearth gems like this.

Let's dig deeper. I bet the SID at LSU in 1899 suggested that we were on the cusp when we lost to Suwannee...... shut us out; but just know there is pride in this.

Suwannee only had thirteen guys, but they were the best damn thirteen guys in The world. The fact that they beat LSU meant that they had arrived and LSU took full solace in that one-win season due to the terrorizing strength of their opponent that week.

There were chants of "hey hey, we got beat by the eventual champion College of the south!" This was a sign of good things to come.

Bernard Hopkins even chimed in 100 years later. He usually bragged about how fighters' careers ended shortly after fighting him.....regardless of his fight's outcome. He was right.

Expect alabama to get the ncaa death penalty after beating us 4 in a row. Again, you don't deserve to win the national championship of you don't beat LSU. It's been a well known fact for the last 115 years and EVERYONE KNOWS THIS.

This is simply a collection of facts out on one post.

I'd rather be the one winning the MNC rather than the spoiler that you must beat to win one.

Lakeboy and dstone really bring a great deal to the rant...not.

Having said that, the OP's post doesn't make any of us feel any better. All it says is that LSU lost to really good teams in a dominant conference.

Mythical national Championship. Since Big 12 teams could have 3 bye weeks to the SEC's 2 bye weeks this year, you cannot accurately judge which teams were the best. Until there is standard uniformity in bye weeks and number of games played all national champions will be mythical.

Well that's just nonsense. Requiring that kind of uniformity is absurd.

I can understand calling a national championship "mythical" when there was no 1 vs. 2 matchup and there were multiple polls.

But once the BCS matched 1 vs. 2, the championship was no longer "mythical." It was earned on the field. The 4-team playoff is even better and further legitimizes the champion.

It was referred to as a Mythical National Championship because the NCAA never recognized a Division 1 national champion. They were awarded by the AP, UPI, other organizations, and lately the BCS. Not because of "uniformity" of schedules.

Now, with the playoffs, the NCAA will acknowledge a Champion, so it will no longer be a "MNC". This is depressing because if Bama winds they can claim to be the first ever real National Champion. Please God, don't let that happen.

How about only if you're Bama and you don't beat LSU at home you get to try it again at the end of the year !!
